No Melo, No Wade

So if Melo to OKC gets done for real what should the Rockets do? Stand pat? Try to sign D. Wade when he gets bought out?

Currently they have 17 players under contract with 3 of them unguaranteed.

Honestly? Even with his (wasn't he injured?) no-show in the playoffs, I kinda prefer having Anderson.

I kinda halfway liked the Anthony possibility, vaguely, because he didn't suck that one year he played the 4, but not really.
This comment sums up the trade very nicely, I think:

I mean the thunder had Durant and Harden with Westbrook
So adding Melo and PG is very good but no one can convince me they are better now than when they had Harden and Durant, especially since GS now has Durant as well.

They should chase after DWade but so happy we didn't get Melo

If you were Wade would you rather play with Bron and Love or Paul and Harden. For Lue or for D'antoni. Does his game include too many mid range shots for this offense? Having his championship experience would be great for this team but can he and Harden play together. One of them would have to defend small forwards. Ariza could start at 4 while Anderson comes off the bench.

Wade would be a god awful fit. Hes bad now, and he can't shoot. He would want to close games. I'm fine standing pat

D-Wade is one of the most narcissistic athletes out there. He destroyed Bulls' chemistry and he would do the same here.

They went from 42 wins and 9th seed before him to 41 wins and 8th seed with him So maybe they didn't have much chemistry to begin with.

He sacrificed his stats for LeBron and Bosh.

I'd be very happy with Wade off the bench.
It'd mess with the Gordon rotation, though.
And I don't know if Wade would be happy with Wade off the bench. Did he play that for Chicago last year?

He only came off the bench in one game. He's only come off the bench 9 times in his long career. It's moot anyway since he signed with Cleveland.

Now on to sign Chris Bosh or Darko Milicic.

No he didn't die. I just mentioned him and Bosh because along with Melo and Wade they were all top 5 picks in 2003. I can't remember who was taken #1 that year. Some bust I assume.

No Melo, No Wade...yet people are already forgetting just how great of an offseason this team has had.

The Rockets were one of the best teams last year, and they upgraded across the board. This is still the #2 or #3 team in the West with a ridiculous amount of upside.

The grass is not always greener on the other side.

Can't say #2 because the Spurs beat us without Kawhi and the warriors won it all. #3 will be interesting because of OKC getting two stars in George and Melo who are playing for new contracts. It wouldn't shock me if the Rockets finished fourth.

Starting pg
In: Chris Paul
Out: Pat Beverley

7th man
In: PJ Tucker
Out: Lou Williams

3rd string center
In: Tarik Black
Out: Montrezl Harrell

2nd string power forward
In: Luc Mbah a Moute
Out: Sam Dekker

Project
In: Zhou Qi
Out: Kyle Wiltjer

Rockets had a very good off-season I'm not saying they didn't but they did give up some good players too.

The best player that they gave up was Beverley, and they replaced him with Chris Paul. Tucker, Black & Mbah a Moute were all upgrades over who they replaced. This is a better team now.

I'm not buying into the OKC hype. They have no bench, and I don't think that George & Melo are going to mesh well with Westbrook, especially if he stays as the ball-dominant player who wants everyone else to help him pad his stats. They are the fool's gold team this offseason.

Tucker vs Lou... Is probably a push. One is a great defender one is a great offensive spark. Lou came in 3rd for 6th man. Tucker had no votes while shooting worse from the field and 3pt line than the streaky Williams. Lou was also good insurance if Gordon got hurt again. Different skill sets but I think Lou is the overall better player. Better fit for this team may be Tucker as a defender but we lost a player who can create his own shot.

Black is a better rebounder but Harrell is much better on offense. trez shot 65 percent from the field and would have been a great lob target. I would say that's probably a push too.

Dekker was basically a rookie and he's 8 years younger than Luc, who is probably a one year rental. Luc is better right now but long term I think this is a negative.

Bev and Paul both first team all defense but of course Paul is much better offensively. We don't know how he'll mesh with Harden though in a non all star game or Olympics setting . And he can also leave after the season as a UFA.

Agreed about the Rockets.

Plus, from where I stand, anyone suggesting not getting Wade is a loss for a team that already has Harden and Gordon is either clueless or intentionally trying to manufacture negativity.

Careful, not everyone posing as a Rockets fan is really a Rockets fan.

Who decides who is really a Rockets fan? You? I've been posting in this forum a lot longer than you have.

As with all things, you know them by their fruit. Interlopers and impersonators always tip their hand.

It's telling that you took my comment so personal.

It's hilarious that your best defense is that you believe you've been around here longer than I have.

Now back to the Rockets

I don't have anything to prove to you. You're the one who made a not so subtle personal attack. But again you refuse to answer the question. What makes you a real fan?
