2017/2018: The story 'til now

Today massive amounts of Houston sports fans will make their way to downtown to watch the first professional sports championship parade since the Houston Rockets won the NBA back in 1995. Building all over town are lit up with Astros colors and people are wearing Astros gear everywhere that you look.

Wouldn't it be great to do this again this summer with the Rockets?

Now, with the focus on the Astros many people have not been paying attention to the Rockets as much as we might otherwise. So far the team is 6-3; but what are the big stories of the season so far?

1. Chris Paul's injury - after a good Game 1 debut the team is taking a cautious approach with Chris Paul's knee. The thought is that he's more important later, but how long until it becomes a concern?

2. The Harden Rule - the refs, God Bless them with their inconsistency, are targeting James Harden's style of play; but much to the haters chagrin he will just adapt his style of play because he is that good. What is funny about this situation is that the haters are loving this; but what is happening is that Harden is now getting specific treatment from officials, something that the whining hoards always complain about anyway.

3. Memphis BBQ sucks - seriously...who likes it? Texas BBQ is so much better. They have to do something about those Grizz, though. 2 of Houston's 3 losses so far have come from the one-time Canadian squad.

What else is going on so far this season. Good? Bad? Ugly?

Memphis BBQ sounds like an oxymoron. :wizard:

It's pretty rare for a city to win an NBA and MLB title in the same year. I think it's only happened 3 or 4 times.

I know I’ll be in the extreme minority but doubt the Rockets win or even get to the Finals as long as James is here.

Unlike with Yao/McGrady, I think we have a solid shot with Harden.
Maybe not the best shot, but a very solid one.
The biggest problem is less with Harden and more with how good Golden State should be for the next 2-3 years.
