Which WC team(s) would you want to face in the 1st round?

It's likely that we're going to finish 1st and GSW 2nd. The race to the 3-8 seed is wide open with teams still in the playoffs hunt. Which of those teams would you want to face? Avoid, if any?

Pick 3 teams you'd want to play against in the 1st round.

This season no one outside of a healthy Golden State concerns me.

But I'll go with New Orleans, OKC & Portland.

I voted Nuggets.

But I'm more concerned with who the Warriors play in the first (and second) rounds. Kerr just said Curry will be out for the first round, and I think either the Thunder, Spurs, or Jazz dropping to 7 will give a Curry-less Warriors a tough series. Particularly the Thunder.

(Edit: Westbrook vs. Durant would be a great storyline too.)

It's good for the Rockets if the Warriors' road to the WCF is as long and tiring as possible.

I'd like to avoid the Thunder and Spurs for a similar reason. I think those'll be the most draining matchups for Harden and Paul. That's if Kawhi comes back.

All those guys can go for the 7th seed. Hopefully one of them will fall to the 6th seed. Whatever makes GSW's route difficult.

If I have to choose, Utah and OKC concern me a little bit, but I feel very confident about sweeping or taking it in 5 against the other teams.

Honestly very surprised to see anyone wanting to play OKC or Portland in the first round. I think those are the two most potent teams outside of us and GS.

Personally, I want to face Denver, Minnesota, or SA (assuming Kawhi is out).

Denver — no defense and we thoroughly shredded them this year. They can and will get hot, but we’d handle them with relative ease.

Minnesota — no bench, no defense, minimal 3 point shooting, Jimmy Butler is out, and we dismantled them this year. I also think they’ll be worn out in the postseason. KAT will get his, but outside of him I expect the rest of their lineup to perform inconsistently.

Spurs — they simply don’t have the talent to hang with us this year if Kawhi is out. They got us last year with their big lineup, but our roster this year is too versatile. Oh, and we’ve dismantled them in the 3 games we’ve played so far.

Ideally, Portland will end up 3rd and OKC will slip to 7th so that Golden State will have to go through both of them to get to the WCF. I know OKC has been inconsistent all year, but they’re still in the top-10 in both O and D rating, and facing Westbrook in the postseason is simply no fun because he does not give up. If Golden State’s stars are still coming back from injury and if Steph remains out, then a healthy OKC team can upset a hobbled Warriors team in the first round.

I want GSW to play UTAH or SAS the first round and OKC or Portland in the second round
I prefer DEN or MIN in the first round
but it doesn't look like Denver is helping themselves

I just looked at the standings and Denver is only 1 loss behind Minnesota, so anything can still happen.

Re: Utah playing GS in the first round — I don’t know. I don’t think Utah has enough offense to hang, even with Steph out. I also don’t know if Donovan Mitchell is ready to take the Warriors down yet.

San Antonio would be a good first-round opponent against GS, and that’s definitely still a possibility.

Yeah anything is still possible
Maybe best for GSW to play OKC in first round and POR in second round

Patience, my friend.

In the meantime, the good news is that the World Series Champion Astros will be back in full action this week!

Hi guys long time Rockets fan here. I dont have a lot of friends who know much basketball so i hope to post here during the playoffs. I think this is our year!

I picked the Clippers and Nuggets because they are the weakest two teams.
I also picked the Thunder because without Roberson they just arent that good.
I wish we would start resting players now, i am scared that we end up like the warriors if we keep playing everyone

I think the whole Westbrook is better than Harden argument came to a complete close this year... but it would also be nice to see Westbrook flame out in the playoffs again lol.

I dont want him to win a series vs one of these pretenders. Let him get blanked by the Rocketsbaby
