To everyone who freaked out last summer when Morey wouldn’t overpay for Carmelo Anthony...

Are you feeling better now?

It worked out well.

I was a little sad but I was okay with no Melo.

Congrats to Melo for leading the Utah Jazz to the 2nd round.

I was 100% off Melo.

Then we got CP3, and I convinced myself that Melo would be the perfect replacement for Ryno (but I wasn't willing to give up anything other than Ryno in the trade).

Imagine if we had his $27M on the books next year. In hindsight, trading for Melo would probably have ruined the CP3-Harden window.

Tip of the cap to Sam Presti for saving us yet again.

Same. I think him going to OKC made it worse for me, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise lol

yeah melo for ryno would have been okay but anything else would have been disastrous. I never wanted melo. I was only okay with the ryno trade because it frees up a year of cap space.

I’ll admit that I got to a point where I thought he might be an improvement over Anderson this year, but an even bigger cap hit that was probably going to be bad long term.

I pretty much never figured OKC would win much over 50 games at best with those guys, though. Mostly for us, I figured that the Carmelo pursuit was to throw other GM’s off Morey’s tail by not being so transparent about REAL intentions.

I definitely thought it was gonna work in OKC, and I was clearly very wrong.
