He worked with a trainer on finishing those floaters he used to always miss. Now it's money.

Yep it was in the Chronicle the other day. Lots of work with a few coaches that use some of Rudy's T old finishing techniques left over from his coaching days in Houston. It focuses on the angles and putting just the right amount of spin on the ball to finish his shots at the basket.

Like I said in another thread...T-Mac needs to be taking this drill too.

at least the coaching staff didn't ask Alston to practice to shoot more 3 like 75% of the people on this board is doing

Yeah, he worked on it a lot, and sometimes when we go on scoring droughts, I say to myself "Let Rafer handle the scoring" lol, he has actually really impressed me this season, Im liking what hes done.

Has a little something to do with two things....

A. Inside outside, reminds me of H-towns glory days with Dream. Dump the ball inside, D collapses, kick it out for wide open jumpers, that was the way that Elie, Cassel and Smith made their living on the perimeter.

B. No T-Mac. Alston doesn't hesitate for that split Mili-second, (Head as well!) they aren't looking to pass it to Mac, they are getting their shots, and they are taking it. And what seems apparent is the re-feed to the post. Players sag in the lane, and it makes shooting that much easier.

Basically it is Basketball 101, and it is starting to make me think that T-Mac is expendable.

Yeah hes really finishing well around the basket, I actually feel nearly comfortable with him taking that shot...

well....i dunno about trading tmac away just yet. i mean our offense seems to be clicking *knock on wood* but that may only be because we've only played mediocre teams for the past few games, with the exception of boston

we will need t mac to beat the eliete teams.

If we're content with playing decently in the regular season, then maybe T-mac is expendable. However, if we want to achieve elite status then we will need Mcgrady at his best in order to do so. I just hope T-mac gets his act together and begins producing like he should be.

Look, nobody is denying McGrady's greatness as a player, I'm just saying that what we appear to be doing now, is looking to get Yao to score as our first option. I just think that Mac takes a few to many errant jumpers throughout the game, whereas it is clear what our option in offense is now. We get the ball to Yao, and let him try to score, if there is no open shot inside, then Head, Battier, Alston, Bonzi, any of our perimeter players will get much better looks, then Scola and Hayes can get easy points off the secondary cut. I just think it seems Houston is getting used to playing WITHOUT McGrady. I hope he gets better, and stays that way, but we've all been hoping that for the last four years!

And it would be hard sitting down and watching your team come together without you playing. although in saying this, it gives T-Mac an extended oppurtunity to figure out how to utilise his teammates better.
