Conditioning an issue

The Rockets pushed back Tracy McGrady's workout test of his various knee injuries until today, with McGrady not expected to return to the court until next week.

McGrady has been out for the past eight games. He has played just one full game since Dec. 15, making his conditioning nearly as much of an issue as his knee.

"The hardest thing is when you're playing this game and you have a setback like I had; I have an injury that limits me from running," McGrady said. "I can't get in shape. It's going to take me awhile to get in shape, and I still am not going to be in the shape I need to be to be that effective on the basketball court.

"It's going to take me awhile to get where I need to be. I came into camp and the start of the season great. I have a setback that will probably set me back awhile. I'm not worried. I know if I'm feeling good I can push through the fatigue. If I'm injured, it's going to limit me to do what I have to."

The Rockets did not practice and are not scheduled for their next full practice until Monday.

Well he won't play tonight which is not that bad news. He better get in the right shape and than come back. He should be back as Feigen said, against Hornets or Sixers.

Good that his knee is ok.

To be honest, I'm completely sick and tired of hearing and reading about TMac injury problems. Nothing against any posters, more of my frustrations towards TMac and his glass body.

We really need this guy to be healthy, motivated, and happy, which just isn't happening.

'05-'06 - Missed 44% of our games
'06-'07 - Missed 15% of our games
'07-'08 - Missed 31% of our games

So on average, over the last 3 years, he's pretty much missesd 1 out of every 3.5 Rockets games.

Then factor in all of the games he was playing at around 65%

If the right deal came along for the Rockets, I'd be all for pulling the trigger. Enough of this already.

No offense but this guy doesn't have a work ethic. I now wish T-Mac for Kobe last summer. Kobe and Yao = the best work ethic in the world. These guys would be lifting and doing drills all summer and win a championship together. **** T-Mac.

LOL some of you guys are real idiots. You think if T-Mac for Kobe was ever on the table that Kobe wouldn't be here. Use common sense please we don't need some noob to sit there and enlighten us that Kobe is a better player. EVERYONE knows that. That deal was never on the table...if it was it would have been done.

As far as the thread goes. Please note the fact that McGrady says once his knee feels healthy he'll play through not being in shape. So stop panicking. This didn't change anything..he won't be sitting out b/c he isn't in basketball shape. You guys really must learn to read the actual posts instead of the thread topics.

Bingo. The article is just stating the obvious: due to T-mac's recent injury, he's not in game shape yet.

I was mad when I first saw this thread, but I like what Mcgrady is doing. In the past he would come back from injuries when he wasn't 100%, and he never fully healed. We SHOULD be able to handle Minnesota at home so I think it's perfectly logical that Mac takes his sweet time to get healthy. You don't want to risk another Mcgrady injury in a very winnable game, do you?

Mcgrady must be the only star on this team that's injury prone.

I sure hope he was doing some conditioning since he's been out. He should've still been able to do pool work, or work on his good leg (which strengthens his injured leg as well) as well as upper-body work.

its mcgrady.... when he is injured he is injured... The most lifting he did probably was lifting his finger on the television remote. The man has one of the worst work ethics in the league and has been documented since his days in Toronto....

Hahahahahahhahahahahaha, gotta love that interviev, I love T-Mac's reaction when the repotrer said the team's playin' better because he's out :) It's also nice when he talks about trade rumors.

http://www.click2houston.com/video/1503 ... ml?taf=hou

Tracy said he's feelin' a lot better, but he didn't play two weeks and that the reasen he's out of shape. He said he needs about a week or something like that to get into game shape, training hard, etc.

We have 3 game, I mean about 3 more games without him

Minnesotta : W

New Orleans : So tough game. I mean everything will depend. Can we make 3s, can we defend, can Yao step up?

Philadelphia : W

That's a good decision by T-Mac. We don't wanna see him playin' like bith, takin' 15 shoots and makin' only 5 of them. So if he needs this weel let him recover.

The good news he's feelin' well and he is close to return. He is back during practices so everythin's gonna be all right.

I acutally feel Tmac has done remarkable with his bad back. I would rather rest TMAC so that he is 100 percent and can continue to be a 100 percent during the strethch in the playoffs. I'm sure they are all thinking of this as a team and not individual merits

AGree. I don't wanna see McGrady playin' like a bith. I mean 5/16 from the field for about 16 pts. We do not need it. Right now we are playin' well, our schedule is not that tough, we can win without McGrady so better wait that week and come back healthly and in the right shape. We need McGrady takin' less shoots but makin' most of them for about 25-30 pts with team playin' well lik now.

Well to me if T-Mac won't be able to suit up for the NO game (I don't see how we're going to pull out a win here w/o T-Mac) might as well have him sit until SA comes into town which is 8 days from now. That way he can get a couple of good practices in that week during the 3 days rest between the Philly and SA games. With T-Mac back the SA game becomes very winnable considering SA hasn't turned it up yet during this part of the season.

I seriously think we have a better chance against San Antonio without TMac, bring him back after that game...

he should rest and play philly. use that game to warm up for the spurs.

and now u see how ridiculous those rumors get. it's unbelievable how some on this board can believe all these rumors.

tmac killed it. if tmac is unhappy, u know aobut it.

Tonight would probably be ideal because it'll probably take 1-2 games for him to get his rust off and for him and the team to re-adjust to one another. If his return game is against a high quality team like the Hornets or Spurs, chances are we lose.
