Well he doesn't deserve to be there but a good gesture.
What's the fine if he doesn't go to the game? McGrady is alot of talk though, I'm sure if he plays well up to the all-star break (assuming he does get the starting spot since Iverson was catching up) then he'd retract his statement haha.

didnt mcgrady say before he didnt feel safe playing in the all star game when he heard it was gonna be in new orleans? something about a safety issue. he didnt want his family there because of all the crime happening there. ive talked to people that have been there since the hurricane and they say its not like that anymore. im sure his family would be in the nicest part of new orleans.

Wasn't Vince Carter allowed to surrender his spot to Michael Jordan?

Chris Paul should be starting along with Kobe. We all know Mac isn't deserving. Him coming out and admitting is a good gesture.

didn't Vince get voted in by the fans while MJ got voted in by the coaches, though? that way they just switched or something.

I think this would be a good idea for numerous reasons... team isn't good (not bad), would get extra rest on his body, not possibly get hurt again, and other guys are deserving.

VC gave up his
starting spot to MJ. Not his spot in its entirety.
Horse of a different color.
On topic : it seems, to an outsider, that T-Mac is more emotionally injured than physically.
That is reason for concern. (Though a totally human reaction to the rigors of an NBA career.) All the same, I fear T-Mac has lost his passion. And I don't care
what business you're in - loss of passion is a death sentence.

Unfortunately, I think I agree. I'd like to give him a shot at recovery, but if that fails then I think it may be best to consider shipping him out while he still has value.

Hopefully whoever coaches will let him sit on the bench mostly.

Nah (I hope!). The 2 games he's played since coming back he's been hustling and working hard on the defensive end - a good indicator, in terms of how into it he is.

I think he will be able to pull the injury card and let someone else get voted in.

i dunno if his value is at + or -, but im leaning on the latter one. we wont get any fair deal if we trade tmac now. i think so..
