No, I heard Bill and Clyde talking about it during one of the Sonics games. After our (Rockets) game, Carl wanted to go but his brother's game had already ended; someone informed him that his brother hit the GW shot.

Rockets Notes: 1/23/08

Rookie deals with road

Rockets rookie Carl Landry's travel day started rough, but got much better as the evening went on.

It began with Landry having no clothes to bring to Seattle. The Rockets' travel itinerary changed from leaving on Tuesday to leaving after the game Monday afternoon. The power forward drafted out of Purdue did not bring luggage to the game and did not have time after to get anything.

The off-day in Seattle on Tuesday ended, however, with Landry watching his brother Marcus Landry hit the game-winning 3-pointer for Wisconsin's 64-61 win over Michigan in a Big Ten matchup.

"He's a better 3-pointer shooter than me right now," said Landry, who grew up in Milwaukee. "He started earlier. Hopefully, he'll become a better player too, him and my younger sister (Shenita Landry, who plays at Temple.)"

Purdue beat #11 Wisconsin tonight. I suppose that makes Carl happy inside.

Landry averaged 5.9 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Landry's noticeable work ethic helped her claim the team's hustle award for the second straight year.

"We are a very young team right now," Landry said. "I know there are places that each person has to step up, so just being able to step up in some type of way could be something very good for our team."

"It is such an exciting time of year for our whole family to be involved," Osagie-Landry said Tuesday.

And by whole family, let us explain. In addition to the couple, Marcus' older brother, Carl Landry, is a 6-7 senior and leading scorer on the ninth-seeded Purdue men's team. Their sister, Shenita Landry, is a starting sophomore forward for the eighth-seeded Temple women.

One extended family. Four teams. Two tournaments. Talk about March Madness.

"It is a big deal to all of us to have everyone in the family playing in the tournament. It's something that you'll never experience, really," Osagie-Landry added. "We have the Landry name represented on four teams. Not many can say that. I am happy for Marcus and the success he has had as well as for his brother and sister. All around it is a great accomplishment for us Landrys to shine on this giant national stage."
