Who is Carl Landry's upside?

Who do you think his play most resembles? Who could he become?
I think he has a decent shot at being a David West type player. Athletic, good rebounder, good jumpshot and good finisher around the rim.
What are your thoughts?

Dude David West is like nearly Boozer level in his offensive ability (and he's bad on defense just like Boozer
). Landry is more like Millsap, they are undersized PFs with a lot of hustle. Landry is better offensively and Millsap is a better rebounder and defender but they are pretty similar.

coming into the season i thought he resembled a taller version of chuck hayes, but i see him as a offensive version of milsap, just like the other poster said

Honestly once this guy gets injured/gets older
and loses his atheletic ability he'll have a hell of a time playing in the paint. Vastly undersized because I know that 6'8" now 6'7" is actually closer to a 6'5" or 6'4" 1/2. This guy is trying to do a Charles Barkley without the chunkiness

Well he's a great finisher around the basket, and has a nice touch from the mid-range area. Best of all he's a very passionate player, and plays 100% every night.
D. West would be probably a stretch since he has a very good back to the basket game as well. Millsap currently has to be a good choice, can score off the bench and hustle though Millsap is a much better rebounder.

I don't care who his upside is, as long as he can contribute on a consistent basis then keep him in the game. Scola and Landry have both proven they are capable of 20+ point performances, so as much as I love Chuck's hustle I think it's his time to ride the pine.
Houston, we MAY have found our answer(s) at the 4.

I really believe it's West. I mean you can say West has a good post-up game, etc. but that's where the upside for Landry is. He has a great knack for finishing near the basket, and definitely has substance and flash in his game.
Truthfully speaking, it's probably because we've haven't experienced this for the past few seasons. We are really looking at somebody that if we properly develop, or actually even bother to attempt to develop(unlike Luther where he's stayed the same game for the past 3 years) can be an integral piece to our future and could really emerge as one hell of a player. Same goes for Aaron, but Landry's game can go a bit further.

Nothing spectacular IMO; i.e. starter.
But he'll be a bruising, undersized PF that can finish around the basket. Something we need from a 'regular-sized' starter

Boozer is his best case scenario - Brandon Bass is his worse case IMO.

Did Landry even have a back to the basket game in college? It's not fair to him to say he has the potential to be a Boozer or West who are elite players at their position. Landry's form on his jumper isn't exactly the most fundamental shot either (his shot often has a sideways rotation).
edit: And Luther has improved his game this year. His pull up jumper off the dribble has looked very good. He is varying his game with drives and passing, though obviously there is still a lot of improvement to be made in these 2 areas. It's also not a coincidence that Luther started to show more of his game with Adelman being the coach now either.

I'm not saying Boozer. Boozer's offensive game from the PF spot is probably the most complete in the entire NBA. As for West, I don't know about his career at Xavier, but I know him from his rookie year when he played limited minutes but got a huge amount of rebounds in those limited minutes.
As for Landry's jumper, his form may not be all that good, but he's a very good shooter nonetheless. It just all depends on how he and we intend to develop the game.
As for Luther, I think that's just benefit of the system. He's still the same player when you break it down.

The Boozer comparison was in reference to some other posters, but you know West has an elite level post game as well.
It's not fair to Luther to say he is just a product of the system. It's not his fault JVG relegated him to a spot up shooter.
