Rockets Also Interested In K. Thomas

Post#1 » by Eralp » Wed Feb 20, 2008 5:49 pm

The Magic, Spurs, Cavaliers and Rockets all have interest in trading for Seattle's Kurt Thomas.

Orlando is believed to be the favorites because of their expiring contracts they can give to the Sonics.

Realgm - New York Daily News

Orlando is looking the most lucky team but anyway we have a chance. If we can add him in our roster, it would be amazing for us. He can be a good back-up for Yao. He is experienced guy and he has got a good mid range shot. Also great defensive player.

Let us bring him Morey , we believe you

This guy is also a headcase at times. Sometimes his circuits glitch then starts punching people on the court irritate with no justifiable cause. And he's too old though. I'd take Kwame Brown over this guy any day.

We have a better shot at Artest then this, Kurt Thomas has a big deal, we would have to give up a lot for him, doubt we do it.

Anyway if its not fit for the forum , moderators can lock.

Amel@ If we can get him , it will be really goof for us , i think. Its my opinion dude.

I like him, he knows his role, plays good D, and can stretch the floor with the mid-ranger but considering like Baller said we'd have to give a couple more valuable pieces just to match his contract and I don't know if its worth it since our PF position has actually been a strength in our recent success.

He would be a legitimate backup for Yao. I like the idea of acquiring him, but I agree with Phoenix Rockets in that we don't have the expirings to make it work.

Francis, Bonzi, and Snyder are expiring and would equal Kurt.
He is the best defender of Tim Duncan in the league.

Kurt Thomas ALREADY HAS an expiring contract. If the Sonics were only interested in expiring contracts, they could simply hold on to him (unless they think they can get more expirings and a pick). I don't think they are necessarily worried about only getting expirings in return.

Why are we declaring our interests to get certain players when we don't even have a good package to offer? As of now, we don't have any players with expiring contracts that we don't need.

And FYI, Francis signed a 2 year 6 million deal with us.

Snyder is one, and Francis has a player option on his second year. If he was traded somewhere like Seattle, he would definitely use it.

I think we are revealing our interest in Kurt Thomas, not because we want to trade him, but because we will be interested in signing him later. If the Sonics don't trade him, they will probably buy him out so that he can join a contendor. He will know we had him on his radar and have some interest in us.

It shows how good Duncan is, he averaged

26.8 points per game
13.6 rebounds per game
4.1 blocks per game
57 FG%

in that playoff series against the Suns last season. But yeah, I agree, he at least makes Duncan work.

No use for Kurt Thomas on this team IMO. We need help on the perimeter. We are good inside.

Sure Thomas would be nice to have but he's not worth his contract to just back-up Yao. Plus I like the idea of going small when Yao is not on the floor with Scola/Landry picking up the back-up minutes.

Depends. Name brand or one of the Kroger generics?
Morey 2020.

Spurs have traded for Kurt Thomas. This probably means they are out of the Artest running since they traded the same expirings that would have been used for Artest.
