Yeah good move for them. Oberto and Elson weren't producing and they pick up a veteran that's solid defensively, knows his role and knock down that mid-ranger.

Barry's versatility and shooting off the bench could be missed, though Udoka has stepped up nicely in the past probably making Barry more expenable.

Main key to this trade: THE SPURS ARE NOT GETTING RON ARTEST.

Kurt Thomas is a good defender but Yao has owned him soundly the last two times we've played Seattle.

Kurt Thomas can still hit that midrange J, which is Yao's bane. He doesn't have to play big minutes, but when hes in on Yao, he'll get those wide open jumpers.

Not a big deal IMO. I guess like comp said...they probably aren't going to get Artest.

The Sonics got 2 1st round pick to trade for Thomas, and 1 more to trade him away. That's good management.

he's fat and old, his defense is overrated at this stage. he cannot stop Yao.

He's there to stop players like Bynum, Amare...and share some defensive responsibilities...so good move for the Spurs I guess.

If Sacramento really wants Kleiza, why don't we offer Luther Head for Artest. Not too big of a difference between the two.
Head + Snyder + Francis + 1st rd pick. We wouldnt give up much from our rotations, and throw in snyder and francis who i believe could be expiring.

Kleiza is 6"8, averaging 12 points, near 5 boards on 47% shooting and 35% from three. Not to mention he plays hard and is decent defensively with a high upside. He has MUCH more value than Head.

I'd almost guarantee the Spurs would never sign Artest under any circumstances.
Morey 2020.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?
A:Ask a stock market analyst or your financial advisor

Moofs is right. Artest isn't a spurs kind of player.

They've been out of the crazy player business since they dumped Rodman back in '95.

jackson didnt have any on/off court dramas while he was with the spurs

only problem was the spurs low balled his contract offer when he was a FA
AJ:"I'm Western Conference," he said. "I'm Popovich. I'm for him, for Texas and for the Spurs."
