Rockets to sign Bobby Jones to a 10 day contract

Post#1 » by A.J. » Fri Feb 22, 2008 3:53 am

The Rockets also plan to sign former Wizards and Nuggets guard/forward Bobby Jones to a 10-day contract, a move that would provide a 6-7 defender for matchups in which the Rockets would be small off the bench after trading Bonzi Wells along with Mike James to New Orleans to get Jackson.

To make room for Jones, the Rockets will release Adam Haluska, who was acquired with Jackson. The Rockets will also receive a second-round pick, either their own or New Orleans

Ron Lewis and Mike Harris were big non-signees. I really don't know how good Bobby Jones is as a defender or an offensive player but it will be interesting to see how he plays. Good job by the the front office to check him out in a 10-day contract. As for Mike Harris, yes we should consider bringing him back since we have traded Kirk Snyder.

Get Brent Barry! He's a great passer, has experience and a tremendous shooter.

In order to complete the trade, the Sonics waived Brent Barry to make the necessary roster spots available. Barry was acquired yesterday in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs.

Now we have two B.J.'s to go with Head as our backup guards.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Bobby jones is a very nice player. most nugget fans were very dissaponted when they waived him. he is a defensive workhorse who has a pretty ok offensive game. i cant believe some of the posters here are calling him a scrub. he'll suprise alot of you guys. we got a pretty good player.

Between jones and green, i feel we can somewhat fill the gap bonzi left. and jackson is a major upgrade over james.
