Thats how it was last year, its like this every year, but the team with the better record below number 4 gets home court advantage, it was like what happened with us last season.

Easy, Utah is leading their division. Division leaders get seeds 1,3,5. Seed 1 goes to the best record overall and basically that is a division leader of its respective division. Utah could be 49-33 and be 4th seed as long as Denver doesn't get a better record than that.

I was wondering the same thing, I thought they did away with the division leader thing? or am I just delusional?

Just recently (I think last year) they changed the rule from the division leader being a guaranteed top 3 spot to being guaranteed a top 4 spot.

It's okay to swear as long you don't avoid the language filter.
And no, Roosk isn't just picking on you.

The fact that some of you don't know the answer to this question is very saddening. This is basic basketball knowledge.

Yeah it's a pretty bad rule. Still Utah is going to have a tough time next year if Oden stays healthy next year.

Houston Rockets haven't been able to be in division leaders in years... Utah happens to be a more competitive division, if we can say two tanking teams make it any competitive.
But if Houston was to play against Utah today, and still have a better record, just like last year, they would have homecourt advantage.

San Antonio Spurs: 41-17
New Orleans Hornets: 39-19
Houston Rockets: 38-20
Dallas Mavericks: 39-21
Memphis Grizzlies: 14-45
Utah Jazz: 38-22
Denver Nuggets: 35-23
Portland TrailBlazers: 31-29
Seattle Supersonics: 16-43
Minnesota T'Wolves: 12-46
Average of wins for SW division: 34,2
Average of wins for NW division: 26,4
To add to that:
U have two teams tanking, we have one.
SW division have a 60-45 record against WC teams. And I've removed Seattle and Minnesota in this process.
For NW division, if I take out Memphis and Dallas(2 worst records, which is actually funny since Dallas, 4th out of 5 in our division, would be ahead of you in your division), we as a division have a 70-39 record against the WC .Imagine if I bring Dallas too.
And another question: a fellow french fan of the Jazz???Such a disgrace for our country

it's going to happen the same than 2 or 3 years ago when the clippers and grizzlies both wanted the nuggets and rather be 5th than 3th, this year, all the teams will want to be 5th to see the jazz, who are very good, but not as good as mavericks, suns, lakers....

Point taken Julio... just like old grandpas live with the same mentality about the commies, I am still thinking this is a two team game with the Mavs and Spurs.
Although I love the fact that we are 4th, I must say that the fair thing would be that the team in the top of the division should be given a seed, but not a top 4, rather instead a top 8, meaning that Utah should be ranked 7 right now. But even if their record means they should be outside the playoffs, that at least they hold the 8th seed.

Yeah, I would say it's the best idea.Right now, division things are messing up the race IMO.
Lucky bastard to live in Nice lol.Weather here is a real disaster.
I would give anything right now to be on the Coast...
