How good is our offense now?

Post#1 » by McTracy » Fri Mar 7, 2008 5:21 am

I was just wonderin'. Ok Dallas were without Nowitzki but they still have terry, howard, stack, etc. Rockets were without Yao.

Look at our offense. Forget about start of the season whe we couldn't even reach 90 pts. But right now you see, 100-110 pts simply every night.

ANd I think we are the best right now. Of course there are teams that can score even 130 but look at us. We can score 110 and give up only 90-95 pts at the same time. How many teams can do that?

Adelman system works great. Ofense is workin' defense is just unbelivable.

17 in a row, how sweet is that?

It's really flowing right now. I think it's really good. I hope we can keep it up.

Offensive systems and offensive sets are over rated; it comes down to who can make shots and who cannot. Right now the Rockets are making shots.

My main concern right now is interior defense, teams are getting lots of easy layups on us. We will see how it holds up next game vs the Hornet's David West.

Offense has looked good when T-Mac is out. T-Mac is looking to post more and more on the elbow now, putting him better positions to score. However the offense looks very shaky with T-Mac out and is also a major concern because nobody outside of T-Mac on this team draws double teams.

Yeah, Dampier actually looked quite effective in today's game, especially when matched up against the shorter Scola/Landry/Hayes. With Deke matched up against Bass a bit, it left Damp free for a lot of offensive rebounds. If worse comes to worse though, I think the Rockets are good enough to get away with doubling down and rotating to cover.

We should try Scola in the post more often, especially when T-Mac is out. He's about the only one outside of T-Mac that can create his own shot. Or maybe Battier, if he's matched against a shorter opponent. But Scola in the post is our best option when T-Mac's sitting I think (though Landry looks to be developing some moves down low as well by the looks of it - this kid could well be awesome if he continues like this)

We just need to shutdown 3 players against NO. Chris paul, Dwest, Mo Pete. And to a lesser extent Mike james and Bonzi, since they probably want to light up their old team. LOL.

Its either Mo pete or Peja. They're both streak shooters, so we have to focus on one that's hot that day. We'll win this game if we played like today.

Alston can too. Landry, Head, Battier and Jackson can try to in a pinch, but none of them are as good or consistent at it as Yao, Mac, Alston, and Scola.

I was really happy to see Landry putting it up off the glass from in close last night when he didn't have a good view of the rim instead of trying to go for the dunk by default. He was doing that for a while, and while sometimes it ended up in nasty facials, other times it has ended up in him getting stuffed and starting off a fast break for the other team.

I *WANT* Mike James to try and light us up. He can't do it and he'll disrupt their offense in the meantime.

Well our point differential is an ridiculously astronomical 14.8+ in the last 10 games according to NBA.com statistics. With that we are ruling the league.

yep i'm pretty scared about our offense when T-Mac sits. there were a few possessions in the dallas game we struggled to get good shots with him out. good thing he played most of the game...

For that stretch against Dallas where T-Mac sat and we got stagnant, of course we looked bad. But it was all mental at that point.

We stopped moving without the ball and passing the ball, lots of dribbling it out. Bobby Jackson tends to overdribble in the offense and Luther always seems to hold the ball in the angle spots. We've got to keep moving and passing the ball with T-Mac in or out. I think the suggestion of giving Scola the ball in the post is a great idea or simply just run a Scola/Landry pick & roll with Head/Jackson.

As for the improvements in offense. When McGrady catches the ball now in his spots it isn't 5-7 seconds of waiting. It's 1-3 seconds then move. Teams cannot keep up with the amount of motion in our offense especially with the shooters and penetration of Tracy & even Alston which are fantastic. Then if they somehow stop it that play, the hustle of Scola, Landry, Bobby, Chuck, and Shane always bails us out.

I've seen numerous times were the execution was beautiful, but the final step was off, and we got bailed out cause we got an O reb. That's fine, that's what's taking us to that next level. We aren't giving up on any play.
