Interesting stats on Tracy McGrady

I came across some interesting stats on McGrady:

McGrady's performance AT HOME VS. ON THE ROAD

Home:

18 PPG 41.53 FG% .298 3PFG% 64 FT% 1.24 SPG 0.6 BPG 5.2 RPG 6 APG

Road:

26 PPG 46.88 FG% .356 3PFG% 73 FT% .87 SPG .39 BPG 4.5 RPG 5.2 APG

As you can notice there is a drastic difference between his production in home vs. away games. What could possible be the reason? The difference is especially highlighted in the offensive department where he averages a whole 8 PPG 5 FG% 6 3PFG% 9 FT% higher.

Another interesting one is his performance according to the amount of days rest he gets

0 Days Rest 21.2 PPG 50 FG% 37 3PFG% 72 FT% .62 SPG .39 BPG 4 RPG 4.4 APG

1 Days Rest 24.7 PPG 45 FG% 33 3PFG% 69 FT% 1.19SPG .42 BPG 4.8 RPG 5.8 APG

2 Days Rest 18.5 PPG 42 FG% 34 3PFG% 66 FT% .67 SPG .67 BPG 6 RPG 5.7 APG

3+ Days Rest 15.7 PPG 32 FG% 21 3PFG% 71 FT% 1.71SPG 1.00BPG 5.1 RPG 7.00 APG

As you can see the amount of rest he gets seems to directly affect his production, and particularly once again his offense seems to get worse as he gets more rest. But another interesting thing is that his defense and other areas perk up.

In 3 or more days rest he by far has his best steals, blocking, and assists days, but is absolutey horrible at shooting.
In contrast in back to back games, he's very efficient in his scoring but everything else (rpg, apg, bpg, spg).

Well what do you guys think, thought it was interesting.

tmac has been great home or on the road since the all-star break.

he just wasn't very healthy in the first half.

it's a different tracy now - happy and motivated.

others usually are better at home
so T-Mac needs to step up his game on the road

click on the link i have above you can check his previous season
JVG did called him the best road player

well the offensive difference enables us to call him a better road player.

But why does his offense skyrocket on the road but EVERYTHING else, RPG, APG BPG SPG decreases noticeably?

It's really disheartening looking at those home stats of his. Seriously, wtf is going on. He even went as far as to ask about the rims at TC.

tmac4real,
Most players/teams do better at home-hence home court advantage-so T-Mac doesn't need to score as much. Many of his home fga's will be at end of shot clock and Quarters, driving down his percentage.
As for the other stats, there are two possible explanations.
1)His other stats GO UP at home because he's trying to contribute in other ways than scoring as his scoring is not needed.
2)On the road he concentrates so much on scoring that the rest of his game suffers.
Still he has b***ched about the baskets at home so who knows-altho by now it's prob become a mental thing. If I were running the Rox I'd make a big show of changing the rims and adjusting the backdrop for him.Perhaps McGrady is simply a player who feeds off/needs the crowd's energy and road crowds have more energy than home ones.

As for the days resting, the 3+ includes games returning from injuries, flu, etc.,so they may be a tad low. But overall I suspect it shows T-Mac is a rhythym shooter and more time off disrupts that. On the other hand he either has more energy so he does the other things better or he's trying to compensate for his shot not falling.

We play better team offense at home, thats why he gets less points. Rookies tend to play better at home than away. Scola played awful today offensively especially first 3 quarters.

But our team has been playing outstanding away lately, except for today. But we grinded out a win and stayed mentally strong.

You guys make good points, now less PPG is understandable since he's taking less shots because the other guys are doing well.

Going 5 FG% 6 3PFG% 9 FT% lower is not explained, and these are pretty drastic drops.
