This 8 game winning streak without Yao seals it. Yao had the worst season of his career this year and has cast his superstar status into serious jeopardy. He was playing mediocre to pathetic basketball and the team has not missed a beat without him. He has slipped from a Ewing-like career into Jermaine O'Neal.

If the Rockets win a playoff series this year they need to trade Yao while he still has value. The Lakers may yet be willing to give up Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum, especially if they flame in the playoffs again. I used to think Yao is important to the team. The evidence has proved me wrong, and if the Rockets win in the playoffs that seals the deal. He should be trade bait and teams will bite hard because of the Chinese money he brings.

Worst FG% since rookie year, worst PER since second year, worst Points/40 since his second year. In short he is far less efficient than he was last year and is producing less in more minutes. Every year he had gotten better, until this year, when he has fallen off and returned to the production level of his second year, when he was the "biggest role player in the NBA". That's why it is the worst year of his career. He failed to improve and instead regressed to early-career production levels.

He has produced at a poor rate and the team is not missing him at all. Watching the game tonight I'd say they're missing him quite a bit, but that's just my crazy opinion.

There was a time when the Rockets went on a superb run WITHOUT Hakeem Olajuwon. I forget the details, but I'm sure Harry Palmer will educate us on it. Does that mean we should have traded Hakeem away too?

I love Gene Peterson. He's going to be missed after this season.

Yao in the high post is the WORST idea in the history of basketball. The high post is the triple threat position and Yao fails at all three aspects of the triple threat. Putting him at the high post takes him away from the basket so he draws less fouls and takes the pressure off the defense. There is no good reason for Yao to be in the high post ever.

Did you watch the game tonight? The Atlanta game? We went through LONG stretches without scoring the ball because couldn't hit a jump-shot and that's what we are without Yao, a team that still plays superb defense but a team that lives and dies by their jump-shot with a lack of a post option. I do think having Landry's finishing ability out of the lineup played a little part in the long stretches, but he's not a guy you can rely on to give you an automatic two when in the post.

In the playoffs (assuming we hang on and make it) weaknesses are really exposed, and the teams we'd likely play have a legit big man that can score points.

And not to mention I guess Yao averaging a career high in rebounds, blocks and assists and once again anchoring one of the leagues top defensive teams (can't say something like we still are without him considering Mutumbo still at this age is one of the best defenders in the league). Scoring isn't the only asset of the game like you'd think it is. Other-wise Kobe must have really declined considering he hasn't averaged over 30 points per game like he's had the past two seasons. Man that dude sucks.

Tmacformvp got it, compucomp you really have no knowledge you seem to go against everything. Even Phil Jackson thinks Yao is needed, without him we are truely not what you think, but according to you Phil Jackson must be stupid.

Not to mention how good his argument is considering our results. But hey, who am I to argue?
