82games.com just published an article on Team Ranks by Positions and PER rating by Positions.
http://www.82games.com/BYPOSIT.HTM
http://www.82games.com/BYPOS12.HTM

The article showed that Rockets have a good balanced team.
PG ranked 17th (-1.3 net PER) (-1.9 previous season)
SG ranked 9th (+2.8 net PER) (+3.6 previous season)
SF ranked 17th (+0.7 net PER) (+3.4 previous season)
PF ranked 9th (+1.9 net PER) (-1.9 previous season)
C ranked 4th (+5.5 net PER) (+4.8 previous season)

The ranking of C is a little bit skewed as I believe they took some numbers after Yao is out of season and will expect a higher ranking and net PER if Yao is still around. Too bad i can't find the numbers after Yao is out. My best guess is this position would be ranked around 11th to 16th (looking at the teams and their net PER for C).

I know Scola and Landry are doing well but I am still a little surprise to find them ranked 9th (behind Mavs, Celtics, Jazz, Hornets, Wiz, Bulls, Suns, Pacers).

SG is still a a strength with Tmac but not as good net PER as last season
SF with Battier is doing fairly well but also not as good at last season
PG with Alston is doing great this season improving from last season of -1.9 net PER.

The PER is a complicated single number rating developed by John Hollinger
and used extensively in his excellent Pro Basketball Prospectus books.

The league average PER is set to 15, but more importantly for this view, when
comparing the team's production to the opponent production you can learn whether the team has been getting a net positive or negative overall contribution from that position.

The decrease of PER difference at SG and SF position are mainly due to TMac's defense IMHO

Defense takes no part in the PER formula. The decrease is simply because McGrady is not having a good offensive season.

Who cares about PER, I don't pay attention to all that, its not even a stat IMO.
