OT: I'm a Longhorn

Post#1 » by RoxFan08 » Tue Apr 1, 2008 10:36 pm

As of last night, I learned of all my admissions decisions. I know we have a fair number of Longhorn's on this board, and I just wanted to post a short announcement of my decision to attend UT Austin this coming fall.

Anyone who says UT sucks, sucks. This school is awesome. In terms of awesomeness, it beats any other school in Texas without question. Austin is the perfect city to go to college. Not too big, not too small.
The only bad thing about UT is parking..but that generally sucks around any school anywhere..except A&M because College Station is the most boring place ever.

Not so much now with the parking garage. 1998-2001 it was a nightmare, especially in 99 (they closed off a lot of the stadium parking lot for a long time with construction).

UT, like with any college, has it's pros and cons. It's a good school for certain majors (business, sciences, engineering) and decent for others (liberal arts). Parking and apartment prices do suck!! But if you're willing to live a little farther and don't mind living by the bus schedules, it's fine. The city is great!! Especially if you're into outdoor activities and partying. Overall you'll have a good college experience, and it'll be what you make it. Word to the wise, take your time to explore all the school has to offer and if you do choose to join a frat make sure you get a taste of all of them first.

The bus isn't bad. I lived on west campus my sophmore year than moved to Riverside my last 2 years, and I didn't preferred Riverside. The bus came ever 5 minutes and there was always a place to sit as opposed to having to walk from WC or take a bus with 6 billion people. Like Max alluded to, the biggest problem was parking. It wasn't even cheap for an evening and weekend permit. If you had to get there fast your best bet was simply to have someone drop you off on campus.
