As an athlete, I always go for the money because post-career time is where all the money earnings come into play.

If you were Tracy McGrady...

It is 2010. You are 31 years old. You have been in the league 12 years now, and you still have not gotten out of the first round. The Rockets have not given up and traded you.

Do you resign with the Rockets, or start ring hunting early?

Do you take less money and sign with the absolute favorites? You will most likely take some heat for this and will probably be known for never leading a team to the second round, but you will finally make it.

Do you resign for more money (obviously still a paycut from the $20+ million you are making now) and hope that you can still lead a team? Do you take a big pay cut and resign and hope that the money will be spent on a big time player to help you?

I'd leave because if Morey still hasn't done anything I'd say you had years to improve the team and you couldn't even do that. It's not T-Macs fault we dont get out of the first round its people like Bobby Jackson and Luther Heads inability to make shots that hurts us

What hasn't Morey Done?
HE was the leading candidate for GM of the Year.. He tried. Just those players didn't prove anything he has nothing to do with that.

If you can fault Morey for anything, it's the Bonzi Wells trade. Absolutely disgusting.

Other than that, he's been great.

That deal was 100% financial, and I still agree with it. We wouldn't have gone any farther with Mr. Wells, and we wouldn't have the flexibility of trading them for a potential swing(this needs to be proven).

Giving up Bonzi was tough but this trade is going to help us out tremendously next year.

I could care less if he stays or goes, but if he is going to leave, I hope that he tells the front office so we can at least get some picks and players back in return. He's not a winner and as a Rockets fan, he isn't needed on this team.

:o

Have you gone insane?

Did you see that T-Mac scored 40? Where would we have been without him once Yao got hurt?

People still blaming T-Mac.. Wow..

When he scores fourty, it should have been fifty. When he scores fifty, it should have been sixty. The guy can't win.

What has the man got to do to get people on here to stop hating on him? He had absolutely no help in Game 6.

I have the perfect plan for getting Tracy out of the first round.

Trade him to Utah.

Of course, to make the deal work it will take Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko. Then he'd STILL not make it out of the first round.

HOU, meanwhile, would make it all the way to the western finals... and lose in a blow out game 7 to the Hornets.

EDIT: I decided to post the team rosters after such a trade.

HOU:

1 - Deron Williams / Rafer / Brooks
2 - AK / Head / Francis
3 - Battier / Novak / Harris
4 - Scola / Landry
5 - Yao / Hayes

No guards would ever score on this team. I left out Bobby Jackson for a good reason, and I'm assuming Mutombo is retiring.

UTA:

1 - Hart / Price
2 - Brewer / Korver
3 - T-Mac / Harpring
4 - Boozer / Millsap
5 - Okur / Collins

See? That team would struggle to make the playoffs and would definitely NOT get out of the first round.

That team would never make the playoffs because that would never be the roster. Either Sloan would strangle McGrady at the podium after his 15th press conference, or McGrady would forego his contract and retire shortly after preseason. Not to hate on McGrady too much, but I can't see him and Sloan mixing even as well as Sloan and Ostertag did.

*edit: I'd expect the friction would come from their presented personalities (as known to fans) being a bad mix, and possibly Mac's injury prone-ness, not his effort.

he will sign a contract with the rockets of 20 millions for 5 years, then we will sign a free agent and make a BIG 4, not big 3.

Say what you want and hate all you want; once his contract is over, every team would still be calling him up. He's talented and he produces wins. You make it sound like he chokes every time, when in fact, he's usually the only one who plays well. I'd like to see how the Rockets fair in a season or playoffs without McGrady.

First of all I do think T-Mac will get out of the first round by 2010 at least once.

But to answer the question, I don't think he'll retire. He's has been quoted as much, but he will be a hot commodity and I'm inclined to believe he'll be convinced by friends to join a contender.
