OT: Carmelo Available

Post#1 » by jove9 » Fri May 9, 2008 9:32 pm

I have no idea who the Nuggets would want in return for Carmelo, but I would be willing to trade T-Mac and another player (Scola?) to get him.

Any thoughts on what the Nuggets might be looking for?

Would you be willing to part with a significant player to land Melo?

EDIT: Added the wiretap link.

I doubt he goes anywhere.

But just to go along, I'd think they'd want expirings to take one of their bad contracts, young talented players or another star.

It'd probably take McGrady+Scola+Jackson+fillers for Melo+Nene or K-Mart. Too much? Possibly, but that's probably what they'd want considering they are just listening to offers and not Melo actually demanding a trade.

I honestly think we don't really have a chance, and if we did we might end up over-paying.

I think we'd pass.

I think if Denver trades Melo, they're gonna want a young talent + draft picks in return. No way they would take a near 30 year old bad back, bad knee Mcgrady. Only way we get Melo is if we trade yao. Not gonna happen.

True, the probability of Melo actually leaving Denver are fairly small, but he is available and crazier things have happened.

Gasol for Kwame Brown and Javaris Crittendon (sp?) would have been vetoed in 99.9% of all fantasy leagues.

Is Melo really a step back?

Carmelo:
25.7 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 3.4 AST, 1.3 SPG, .5 BLK, 49% FG, 78% FT, 35% 3PT, 36.4 MPG

T-Mac:
21.6 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 5.9 AST, 1.0 SPG, .4 BLK, 41.9% FG, 68% FT, 29% 3PT, 37 MPG

T-Mac is 28, Carmelo is 23.

I'm just not seeing it.

Ugh. God no. Carmelo is top of the league, scoring wise, as for every other aspect of the game, he's not even close to McGrady. He chokes in the playoffs on a yearly basis, and this is clearly in his play. It's not some phantom choke job like T-Mac's. You can say what you want about Tracy not getting out of the first round, but you sure as hell can't legitimately bash his play, or his numbers.

Melo's also a moron off the court. I don't want any part of him.

You 4got to mention that hes a cancer. Team chemistry means more then all these stats. And wow T-Mac is only 28 i thought he was in his 30's!!!

Everyone knows T-Mac coasts threw the regular season, so those stats arent a fair assessment of his talent, these stats however are a fair assessment....

2008 Playoff Stats

Melo:
22.5 PPG, 9.5 rpg, 2.0 apg

T-Mac:
27.0 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 6.8 APG

Melo is the ultimate team killer. he will never play on a successful team, he cant share the ball

Right now our team is made up of people who play unselfish, share the ball, hustle, play defense, and are easily coachable.
I don't mind making additions that fit our team but splitting our core up for a knucklehead like Carmelo? no thanks

I would only trade for Melo if they wanted young talent(Brooks, Head, 08 1st pick, future picks) and expirings (Jackson)

The fact of the matter is, we have our team built on 2 extremely fragile superstars. If one goes down, the team is doomed. Even though Melo might be a bad apple, he's damn good insurance if one goes down...and I think Adelman's offense would do him well.

I agree with you. Both of our stars are injury prone and T-Mac's game has been sliding as the injuries mount (except for Game 6 - I don't know where THAT outburst came from).

Why not trade him now for a younger and equally skilled player?

Help me out, Compucomp! People defending T-Mac are "TOFs" and "Yao haters!" Sick 'em, boy!

(Of course, I'm kidding with that last part)
