I can no longer take the All-Defensive Teams seriously.
Coaches don't know **** about what they're doing. I think the media should do the voting.

How does he continually land near the top of DPOY voting, but can't even make the 1st team?

Yep, the discrepancy lies between the fact that the DPOY is voted by the media, whereas the All-Team selections are made by the 30 head coaches around the league.

Over the last few years, the DPOY has been more reliable. Hence, we can only come to a conclusion that NBA coaches don't know much about the players in this league.

he finished 3rd in defensive player of the year but ended up in 2nd all-defensive team?

Only 9 coaches voted for Shane for first team.
Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players so RA wasn't one of them

FIRST TEAM
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

This just makes me think that coaches don't care about these awards. They probably just voted for 5 decent defenders and turned in their slips.

There is no way Shane shouldn't have been 1st team this year.

Then, they should get rid of it.
Amazing how something that carried a significant weight during the 80s and the 90s have become a joke.

So they gave Chris Bosh the same amount of votes as Mutumbo, and didn't give Yao a vote.

Wow.

It's a no sense, just like Mac being on the third best team instead of second. Wasn't he 8th on MVP?
Kobe Bryant..... i don't know.

Wow.

I understand why they wouldn't give Yao a vote. I don't understand why Shane didn't make 1st team though. That was his goal for this year.

Well, Yao didn't deserve a vote.

Over-react much? You really would put Shane ahead of KG or TD? Not sure about Mac being on 3rd team though I haven't taken a look at who made it ahead of him on 1st and 2nd teams.

Huh? They don't have a Defensive 3rd Team.

Demote Camby, move Duncan to C and insert Battier.

I'm glad in a way he actually made unlike last season, but it's odd how he finishes so high in DPOY voting and barely gets on the defensive team.

Like TMU said, these teams have almost been a joke recently, all based on your reputation.

Bruce bowen took his place in the first team. And Bowen is a better defender imo, he's taller and quicker.

Bruce is 6'7, Shane is 6'8
and Shane never kicked Chris Paul in the face

Makes no sense how the guys finished 3rd DPOY voting and only gets second team honors. Who is this league right now is a better perimeter defender?
