OT - Grand Theft Auto IV

Post#1 » by Texas Longhorns » Tue May 13, 2008 2:27 am

Man, I can't believe we don't have a thread just for this game on the Rockets board. This game is so f*cking awesome. I got it the day after it came out (Wednesday).. I'm about 45% done with the game. This game is just ultimately one of the best game's I've ever played. Discuss....

how is it different than the others? different backgrounds, weapons, and rides. that seems to be it. beating pimps and hos can be fun to do though (in the game only).

I'm 36% done after a week. I would do the missions more but it's just so much more fun to screw around. Online multiplayer is amazing too.

Don't kid yourself, bubba. Beating pimps and hos is an activity that's fun anywhere, anytime. Get the whole family involved!

Beat it. Great game. Just not a perfect 10 like most review sites are saying. Missions get repetitive towards the end. Story is predictable if you watched 1 or 2 mob movies in your life time.

Apparently, it's the best rated game of all-time passing up Zelda.

Which I really don't understand how a game can be so overrated by all these game review sites.

I have yet to see a person agree with the score and say its a perfect game that can't be improved upon (From what I've read camera issues and some other minor aesthetic problems)

Zelda: OoT was a revolutionary game in its day. It set the bar higher than any other game could reach at the time. And paved the way for future adventure games. That's why it is a classic.

GTA 4 is another generic sandbox game that doesn't improve upon or has any sort break through for its generation. Its just a fresh coat of paint on recycled game play.

Vastly Overrated (in terms of Greatest game of all time)

Ditto. Ocarina of Time was probably the last game I could play for hours on end without thinking about doing anything else. In fact I think I spent an entire Saturday from about 10am to 5pm beating the water temple. If it can make you put your stomach and bladder on hold for more than 2 hours it's a great game.

I bought GTA 4 and it's ok. I'm not really down with the whole 2 joystick control scheme though. I'll probably beat it and enjoy it, but it hasn't hooked me.

Ocarina of Time is a master piece in the video gaming world IMO. I'm kinda over GTA games as they are all the same stuff over and over again just with graphical improvements and changes to the setting

omfg, how can this game be better than Zelda OoT. OoT changed everything i knew about gaming, it had the story and the perfect combination of what gaming should be. I really cant find a flaw in that game and ive probably beaten it more than 5 times. Probably only game i could continue playing after ive finished the game and tried to get 100% in the game

Guild finished Black Temple about a month and a half ago. So I quit raiding after that. Don't have the time to get into Sunwell.

And I play a lot of console games as well.

I just don't like GTA.I don't know why, I've tried, but it bores the hell of me.
I understand how many people(a lot, if not all, of my friend have a PS3 and love this game) can love it, that's not the question.
I just dislike it so much
For instance, I prefer Assasin's creed on PS3.

And as to Zelda, I loved OoT...But IMO the best Zelda ever is A link to the past..

I guess a lot of people are disagreeing with the reviews. I think it's a bit overrated, but IMO it's on the same level as Zelda. Zelda's not gonna stay up there forever...
