that good to hear, do you guys think he could work on getting healthy this summer and come back next season and be of some help to the team? I mean he was always a talented player who could score and pass well.

I think Francis is going to suprise alot of people when he comes back healthy next season. He is another reason why Bobby Jackson is expandable. I'm looking foward to 1-2 punch of Alston and Francis at the Point with Brooks being used here and there.

I hope you're right, I really do, I just wonder if he's all of a sudden learned how to shoot consistantly, not turn the ball over constantly, make good decisions and play good defense.

Of course coming into camp in shape and not expecting the starting job to be handed to him would be a bonus as well.

I have faith in Stevie Franchise. I was dissapointed when he came into training camp out of shape last season. But then again, he was coming off an injury plagued season in New York. Injuries are part of the game, we know that much, so it was extremely dissapointing to lose him for the remainder of the season. I know that hes gotta be itching to get back on the court and play for Houston. I'm confident he will come back ready and will produce.

I think his shooting will improve because he is going to be getting alot of open looks when teams have to focus on T-Mac and Yao. Either that or he will attack the basket and get to the line or make a play for someone else. Back then we had no other threats with the exception of maybe Cuttino Mobley. I also think his turnovers will be down because we have other players who can handle the ball and set up the offense like Alston, McGrady, and possibly even Mike Miller.

With a healthy Steve Francis, I think he could potentially be an X-Factor for the Rockets.

People don't get that he didn't have enough time to prove anything with the Rockets this season, he played the first 3 months, we had 1 good month and 2 horrible months before the streak when people said we were not going to make the playoffs, when Francis was awful, the truth is that ALL the team was, and he also had a couple of good games before the bad games for the Rockets. I understand that people say he is "done" or "finished", but he deserves another chance.

He actually played well when he came off the bench this season, it became a problem when he started to get more minutes and became a starter for the stretch.

I still think he could be a pretty substantial contributor to this team.

I hope we run a 3 PG rotation. That way we can keep all 3 fresh.

Do I have high expectations for Francis? No. But I don't see how he possibly could do any worse than what Head is doing with his minutes.

I think we'll all certain in how we view Francis.
One group thinks he is a still-talented player who's learned the error of his ways and will display a new-found passing ability while still capable of scoring at will and he just needs a chance. The other group sees him as a dribbling out the clock ball stopper,who jacks up bad shots,plays no D,turns the ball over routinely and refuses to pass the ball.
Whatever the reality of Francis might be,the Rockets cannot afford to keep 4 PGs. Alston isn't going anywhere unless the Rockets think they can get a better PG,which doesn't seem likely. Morey wouldn't move Brooks for Artest,so Brooks is safe.
That leaves Jackson or Francis. Jackson knows the system and has a good history w/the coach. Francis doesn't.Jackson has larger contract that expires at end of coming season. So does Francis,but he is under $3mil so Rockets can include cash to cover a buyout. Francis is coming off an injury and his future mobility is uncertain while team knows what Jackson will do. All in all,odds are Francis gets traded.

Bobby Jackson is the one to trade. Francis can be the backup PG if he stays healthy next season. We need him to attack the hole, and finish like he used to, hopefully he has enough in him to do that.

I'm really of two-minds about trading B-Jax. On one hand, he is by far our best trade piece. But by trading him, I can easily see a scenario in which were in the same position as two seasons ago were Rafer is forced to play 40 MPG. Brooks is till unproven, and Franchise we don't know how he's going to come back plus he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire in the few minutes he played last year.

i agree safi. only trade jax if a good backup pg comes back in the trade. we overrate brooks a little. we need more depth there if jax is traded. also, i think our best bet would be to play francis at the backup sg position. hes not a pg really, and he cant do any worse than head did. i think francis can be our barbosa if hes in shape
