....of Olympic consideration. Get your mind out of the gutter.

Sucks though. It would have been nice to have a Rocket representative there. Do you think Coach K would really have considered him for a spot?

I can't wait for these Olympics.

Seeing as he's a great defender and an unselfish player, not to mention being a Dukie.... yes.

Great move by Shane. We can't afford another injury by one of our starters.

I would like to see Battier starting along with kidd, kobe and 2 big mans, usa to win needs more players like shane and less ball-hogs like melo anthony, but the truth is that i want him to be ready for the rockets and not risk injury...

Pretty much expected, just had surgery and needs to rehab so he can be ready for next season.

Will be interesting if Kobe also pulls out because of his back.

You realize, of course, that Melo has been consistently the best player on the team? His game is practically tailor-made for FIBA ball.

That was, "some" months ago, right?
You honestly think 2 superstars at SG (kobe, wade) and 2 other superstars at SF (lebron, melo) can work in important games when you need chemistry and d? Battier/Prince are needed.

Alex_D_Large is right. The USA team needs a defensive wing.
Coach K was using Carmelo at PF and letting him shoot at will.
Kobe-to his credit-was being the defensive player on the starting unit.If he's out,who is going to defend among a prob starting unit of Nash,Wade,LeBron,Carmelo and Howard? This team is going to look an awful lot like the Karl team that went down in flames.
