Hedo Turkoglu is the most tradable player they have to do any kind of a major deal. His salary is low ($6.8 million) for what he produces, making him attractive to a variety of teams. They could move him to Seattle to get Nick Collison, a true power forward who averaged 11.1 points and 12.2 rebounds in the last 14 games. He averaged 9.4 rebounds on the season. They could get guard/forward Shane Battier of Houston, who could smother Hamilton in the playoffs. Or they could even try to pry power forward Josh Smith out of Atlanta in a sign-and-trade deal that would require a few more pieces.
I know there is not any certain information and it is just looking like an option for them. But if it happens, i can appreciate GM Otis Smith and God. Hedo would be our Hero.
Go Morey Go ! It is "Moneyball" time babe

ehhh
I don't know if Hedo's better offense makes up for his worse defense if we lose Battier. I'd rather continue to pursue Mike Miller.

I love Hedo, I really do, and I think his current value actually exceeds Battier's.
But who is going to guard Kobe if we make this trade? We won't be able to beat the Lakers (Kobe), Spurs (Manu), or any of the other top teams with a great SF or SG, because Tracy doesn't have the energy or inclination, and Hedo doesn't have the quicks to play defense on those guys.

we'll send Mike Harris to defensive stopper school.
Shane is great but Hedo is awesome under Adelman's system.

Doesn't he have an expiring contract though? If so, a rental?
You know he'll demand more money.
Yeah, he has a player's option in 09/10

I'd do this in a heartbeat, adds another play maker, scorer, his defense isn't so bad, but he'd be a great fit. Also a VERY clutch player, easily he would be the best clutch player on our team. Hedo was behind LBJ and Kobe as most 4th quarter points in the NBA.

I would pull the trigger on this one. I'm positive Adelman is looking to move Battier, and he'd love Hedo.

Seems like the guy who wrote that is either the guy from this thread or a guy connected to the guy from this thread. Nothing really to see here...just a fan blurting out ideas that he thinks can improve the team. He just happens to have a larger viewing audience.

I would do this in a heartbeat. Battier wont get us anywhere, its time to get that 3rd scoring option. Its not like losing battier will just kill our D. We are a good TEAM defense, hes just one piece. Battier is not even CLOSE to doing what hedo can do on the offensiven end. MAKE THIS TRADE HAPPEN!

I'd do it, don't get me wrong. but I'd still pursue adding Miller here without giving Battier. If we can add Miller, all we got to do is add a vet backup PG too and we are set.

What makes you so positive that Adelman wants to trade Battier?

In terms of reality the Magic would not do this trade. Since Hedo is coming off a breakout season.

defense is our identity
it would be weird that we trade away our best defender

And that would mean I would have to have another favorite Rocket who is not named McGrady and Yao and I would have to buy another jersey.

This may seem weird guys, but which Miller are we talking about acquiring here? Mike or Andre? I keep coming across this propaganda to get Miller but I have no idea which Miller it is that we want to get? Reggie Miller? I think he's done and retired permanently.

No way the Magic would trade Hedo for Battier. NO WAY!
