Memphis brass is feeling the criticism from the Gasol trade fallout and is responding by placing a very high asking price on Miller. According to the source, the Grizzlies were asking for a package deal from Houston that included Luis Scola and it's believed that their asking price hasn't changed.

That certainly puts into perspective some comments made by Rockets general manager Daryl Morey back at the trading deadline about a Houston pursuit of Memphis' Miller and Sacramento's Ron Artest.

"They were asking for more than a bag of beans," said Morey back in late February. "They were highly motivated to get what they wanted and we did look at them but it didn't make sense for us. Obviously their price was too high because no one paid it."

However, unless that asking price changes, it's not a good bet.

So all of a sudden the Grizzlies actually want talent for their second/third best player (pre-Gasol trade) instead of magic beans.

Are any GMs actually going to take the Grizz any seriously?

I think that should take Bobby Jackson, Head, and a 1st round pick for Miller from you guys and call it a day.

Alston/Brooks
McGrady/?
Battier/Miller
Landry/Scola
Yao/Mutombo

I put Landry at starting PF because I though he complements Yao better than Scola and Mutombo could complement Scola. Also you guys should also look at a backup defensive stopper like a Quinton Ross to help with the defensive assignments when Battier is taking a breather and a more experienced PG to backup Alston.

I will be rooting for you guys to come out of the west next year.

Thanks bro .
No way we trade Scola for Miller , because Memphis was so stupid and got raped by the Lakers doesn't mean other teams will try to help them now , they will try to rape them too.
Miller is good but still there are other players in the league of his caliber.
They can keep so he will win more games for them and once again they will be stuck with mid lottery picks when there are 2 potential franchise changing players at top 2.

i think the only way i would agree with Scola for Miller is if we got Lowry or Warrick put in the deal. And that prolly wont happen. Plus i wouldnt like makin a deal in the division w/ our players involved.

Absoloutely no chance we should trade Scola for Miller.
Even if Lowry and Warrrick are included , Lowry is not much better than Breooks and he is not a great fit , both Landry and Scola are better than Warrick.
We have been trying for 3 years to get a good pf rotation and we finally did , we can't afford to mess it up.

What we need is to wait and eventually a deal will come up and we will be able to get that scoring and creating wing without blowing up our core.

Me too would hate to see Luther Head and Bobby Jackson next year but we have shown we can win with these guys , especially when healthy we can compete for 1st seed.

We need to wait as long as we need , but if the deal doesn't come along till the deadline we are screwed.

In the meantime I would love to somehow trade up without giving up these guys:T-Mac , Yao , Battier , Landry , Scola , Alston.

We don't have to trade into the lottery even 17 or 18 will net us a very good player imo.

Nobody is gonna meet their asking price for Miller. Thats is just ridiculous. All of a sudden they want talent in return for one of their good players? LOL only in Memphis.

Seriously, screw Memphis, they're a complete joke after the Pau "trade".

Grizzlies management is a joke. Scola for Miller? They've got to be smoking. Scola is better than Kwame Brown, should've kept Pau Gasol if they want Scola.

Sorry, but I'd do it. Scola,Francis(cash to buy him out)and Head would be fine by me.
Scola is a good player, but not great. He was outplayed by a hobbled Boozer, could not provide any help defense and had major problems finishing inside. He will get better, but he's not going to learn how to jump all of a sudden and start blocking shots,out-jumping people for rebounds and dunking off feeds. Duncan,Stoudamire,Gasol,West,Boozer,Brand,Dirk,Aldridge are all in the West. Which of these do you think Scola is better than?
Getting Miller would let Morey go after a PF in a draft full of them and go after a vet big w/some of the MLE. Miller is a quality 6th Man and a capable replacement starter for the 15 or so games T-Mac will miss.

Yao is also in the West , which other centers are better than him?
You can't have all stars in every position.

Landry who was a steal in the draft had just 2 good playoffs games out of six .
Counting on a rookie is a bad bad idea for the post season , especially with a late 1st , what are the chances we get another Landry??

Shabi,
I agree about Yao. However,Miller is a far better Sixth Man that just about anybody in the West except Ginobili. In relative value,I'd rather have the second best 6th Man than the 8 or 9nth best PF in the West. Plus to get Miller's salary the Rox would have to trade several players, which frees up roster room.
I just feel a hypothetical Miller,Robin Lopez,Kurt Thomas(using MLE to outbid SA) trio would be better than Scola,Head and a rookie wing-say Rush.
I just feel having Miller and tring to replace Scola is easier than having Scola and trying to find a Miller type.
But the likelihood of Scola for Miller is pretty remote.

for this deal to work we would need to throw in Jackson

1 starter and 1 rotation player for a better 6th man
no thanks

No way, I would only offer BJax, Head, and 2008 1st round for Mike Miller, that is the maximum I am going to offer if I am the GM. Scola is too valuable for this team.

if we trade scola, were once again stuck without a "decent-reliable" jump shooter type of a PF. scolandry = beast tandem

Maybe if they throw in Warrick...

My thoughts exactly, Scola/Landry combo is what this team needs. These guys just learned the system their first year and help us to 22 straight wins. Name a better PF combo in the league? Probably none. Once Yao comes back they will operate much better in the Play Offs. Less congestion and attention = opportunity these guys feast on.

It's too bad Scola didn't turn into that #1 FIBA post player once Yao was out. I always thought he could adjust to the game enough to go at it with TMac in a tandem in the PlayOffs.

I would like to see Scola in more positions to make passes and post up than he did last season, he did a lot of dirty work and driving.

I love Scola but... he's anything but a decent reliable jump shooter. Juwan was a much better face up 15 foot shooter.

scola hustles, though not always effectively on the offensive end. What's with this M.Miller love. He's not even that good of a player where I would give up my starting PF. The starting lineup is good as is and where we need work is on the bench. Trade a couple of bench players for a better bench player and try to draft some talent. No need to do anything drastic. As it is every year, JUST STAY HEALTHY!!!!
