Houston center Yao Ming will return to the court for China next month, according to a report by Reuters.

He missed the second half of the regular season for the Rockets because of a foot fracture but will make his return for China against Iran in July's Stankovic Cup.

"Yao Ming will definitely play the match, and this will be his first match after returning from injury," the organizer of the Stankovic Cup told Sohu.com.

Good news: Yao is playing basketball again
Bad news: Yao is playing basketball already in July ehhh

Good News: Yao will get back into playing shape in the summer, so when the season rolls around he'll be ready to dominate.

Bad News: Yao will be worn out by March and runs the risk of getting injured again. :nonono:

Every other year I would be upset to see Yao playing in these tournamants in the summer.
But this year I think it's good for him , the Olyimpics aren't that long and China are not that good they will be eliminated pretty fast.
He won't have to play too many games.
I just hope he doesn't get injured at all , even minor injuries will piss me off.
Scola too.
“He didn’t miss?” , “That’s fantastic. That’s tremendous. I wish I could have a day like that. I dream of the day I could go 12-for-12.”-Rafer Alston

i don't know why people don't want Yao to play in the summer because of the chances of getting injuries
so are you asking him to play only in the playoff?

My thoughts exactly. Yao isn't going to playing much, he just needed to make an appearance to show honorability for China. But Scola on the other hand. Argentina could possibly beat out USA for the GOLD. Scola injured and can't start the season for the Rockets means we're **** in 2 ways. No starting PF and the chemistry and development of Scola in the Rockets system is gone. I think something will happen to Scola based on our team's luck.

There's about 10 guys that are 7'2" plus that China does little to help develope. These guys probably don't like Yao much and would love to have a chance to play or develope. I'm not talking about guys randomly picked out from the general population but guys that are ballers and but neglected.

I am going to get criticized for saying this, but I will say it anyway.

Well since Yao can't stay healthy for an entire season, he needs to realize that he has to make sacrifices. I understand that China won't be playing many games in the Olympics due to China's inferiority over other national teams. However, you have to realize that it takes months of preparation including all the qualifiers that he has to play in. Although I don't know what it means to play for China, if I were him, I'd emphasize on winning a championship with the Rockets since it is a more realistic goal than trying to win a gold medal for China. Yao can't please everyone but winning a championship in the NBA is also a way of serving his country and demonstrating his exemplary ways.

p.s.: Thank God the Olympics take place only once in every 4 years.

The man doesn't have a choice. If I were Yao I would help China's big men prepare. There are a bunch of them that have yet to make a public showcase or appearance. Yao helping these big guys learn how to play at an elite level would help China more in the long run. If Yao offers these services and China can compete better without him in the future, I think they'll give him a pass 2 years or 4 years from now.

playing for a rigged league is more important than representing your country?
what is wrong with American?

The league and Stern will be exposed sooner or later. Yao knew it was rigged for the year at least and gave up. I think Yao is used to infractions. Basketball in general might be rigged. Yao probably experienced or has the issue in mind as he probably witnessed the circumstances his whole life.

True, but I'd rather play for the league with all circumstances taken into account, more bragging rights, more endorsements, money just stacks up high like paper for these guys, I don't blame some of them.

Doesn't the government have something to do with that?
