I'm going to say quite easily Dwight...better rebounder, blocker, scorer, and hes one of the top 5 players to start your franchise around. I think even Rockets' fans are going to say Dwight, if not then they must be a duplicate account of compucomp.

Dwight is quicker, stronger, and much much more athletic. Yao can do some things, but Dwight is just a monster, hes like a young Shaq. Dwight inside is the better scorer, the only thing I'd say Yao has on Dwight is...well the mid range jump shot.

Magic fan here... if you think Dwight has no post game, then it's quite clear to me and everyone else that you didn't watch a single Magic game this season. Get your facts straight before you post stupid threads like these.

In before Rockets fans get angry at the OP for trying to make them look bad with this crap.

wtf? I don't even know who you are. I just saw this thread and couldn't believe anyone was trying to start a Yao > Dwight thread, even on the Rockets board.

I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to post on any thread I wish to, and if not, the mods can take care of that.

Now get back on topic and tell me what your logic is in saying that Dwight has no post game.

Thanks for answering my question.

I'll stop my contributions to this thread because I don't want to seem like a troll... but why don't you post this in Player Comparisons? You'll get your head bashed in, but still, it would give you your answer.

This is a close comparison but I don't think Dwight is better than Yao.
Defensively, I will give Dwight the edge. Both Dwight and Yao demonstrate their defensive excellence both on man-to-man defense and help defense. However, the separation is made because Dwight is a much better rebounder. Dude hardly gives up an offensive rebound.

Offensively, Yao has a significant edge over Howard due to his wide variety of arsenal. Yao has an excellent hookshot, an unstoppable fadeaway jumpshot, and a good midrange jumper. Howard's offensive game is still raw, relying purely on his strength and leaping ability. The majority of Howard's points come from dunks, putbacks, and buckets underneath the basket. And unlike Yao, he's yet to have a jumpshot outside the paint or a consistent hookshot, which can be a lethal weapon for him. The only advantage Howard has on offense is his ability to draw fouls, which isn't that significant because his FT% is considerably worse than Yao's.

Overall, I think Yao is a better player than Howard, because he has a significant edge on offense. But I will take Dwight over Yao because of Yao's poor durability which is a set-back to his great talent.

This is the way I see it. Yao is the better player offensively in the fact that Yao can score from anywhere and he can hit his free throws. Dwight scorers most of his points from dunks.

Dwight is the better play defensively.

So I think they are equal.

Thank you for finally making a rational, thought-out post, but you just completely changed your opinion from Yao > Dwight, to Yao = Dwight.

It's been argued so many times at every board I've gone to, and I can only assume it's been brought up here a lot too... and at the boards I used to go to, they almost always concluded that Dwight was better.

It's a close argument. Don't think I'm saying Yao is a bad player, because he isn't. But just looking at Dwight and the potential he still has, I don't think anyone could pick Yao over him.
