Off-Season Transactions Around the League

Post#1 » by TMU » Wed Jun 25, 2008 10:13 pm

This thread is dedicated to non-Rockets-affiliated transactions for this off-season. :D

It looks like the first blockbuster deal will take place between Indiana and Toronto, where the Indiana Pacers have agreed Jermaine O’Neal to the Toronto Raptors for point guard T.J. Ford, center Rasho Nesterovic and the 17th pick in Thursday’s NBA draft.

If this trade goes down, the Pacers will look to trade Tinsley elsewhere.

Another trade just went down.

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... charlotte/
The Denver Nuggets have traded their first round draft selection (the 20th overall) in the 2008 NBA Draft to the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for a future protected first round draft pick, Nuggets Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien announced today.

The Nuggets now currently have no picks in tomorrow’s draft.

Good move by the Bobcats.

Probably a move in the direction of attempting to avoid the lux tax by the Nugz.

Yep. Two injury prone players in O'Neal and Ford. But I think Indiana killed Toronto in this deal, especially by getting that draft pick.

Moreover, Rasho + Dunleavy + Murphy?
Pacers = 2009 champions.

Oh, and the Bobcats - Nuggets trade is definitely in favor of the Nuggets.

Yeah I think the Pacers win this trade also. If Jermaine goes down they are in big trouble. They do not have a center with Rasho going to Indiana, so they better hope Jermaine is healthy. For the Pacers they get an upgrade at center in Rasho and that means that either David Harrison or Jeff Foster is gone. T.J. Ford is an upgrade over Tinsley at point and Tinsley might be gone also. And they get pick number 17 and they could get a PF to replace Jermaine, and they could draft Marresse Speights or Darrell Authur.

I like the Bobcats trade. They could use the 9th pick to draft the best player available, and they could use their other first rounder to take a center like Roy Hibbert or Robin Lopez. Also I think the Bobcats can package both picks and trade up in the top 5.

I thought about the Bobcats and their potential to trade up for a top 5 pick. But, which team i's going to trade its pick? Pick value-wise, Nuggets will be getting a better pick in the following year. I mean the Bobcats will not make the playoffs this coming year. Perhaps the Bobcats have someone they're looking at with their 20th pick; someone will skills that they don't wanna miss.

This is a pretty nice trade for both teams.

Raptors...
They get an All Star caliber player in O'Neal, but if he doesn't work out, he's still going to be a 23 million dollar expiring contract next year.

Pacers...
They get a young/good point guard in Ford, so they won't have to use the 11th pick on someone like DJ Augustine. They also get the 17th pick to get some young talent.

Wow, another pick just sold. Its top 14 2009, top 12 2010, top 9 2011, top 3 2012, and no protection 2013.

And interesting trade with the Pacers and Raps. JO is a real good fit next to Bosh to anchor the D and if he can just be healthy for the playoffs, then the Raps could be a pretty dangerous team. Pacers get the edge though, get a young PG, the 17th overall pick, and salary space.

A deal is being discussed:

Heat trades Shawn Marion and the 2nd pick to the Clippers for Elton Brand and the 7th pick.

If I were the Clippers, I would do that trade in a minute.

I like that trade for Wade (one of my favorite players) gets a solid big man, that hopefully can stay healthy.

New Jersey's Richard Jefferson is traded to Milwaukee for Yi Jianlian and Bobby Simmons.

LA Clippers traded their 7th pick along with a future 1st round draft pick to the Seattle Supersonics for the 4th pick.

All these trades, lol

God trade by the Bucks imo.

They get a huge upgrade at SF and can draft a PF with their first rounder. Maybe Anthony Randolph?

I wonder how Vince Carter feels. He's probably going to fake another injury if he stays with the Nets. And yeah, the Bucks raped the deal.

I don't understand why everyone is high on Anthony Randolph. Dude put up mediocre numbers in college and he doesn't excel in one area of basketball. I think he's going to be a bust.

As if there weren't some very exciting trades during last year's draft, it seems like this year's is just getting heated up. JO is a HUGE liability, but if he stays healthy then the Raptors will have a very talented frontline. However, this still doesn't fill their hole at swingman, as I don't believe Anthony Parker is the answer at starting SG for a team with legitimate title aspirations. As for the Bucks trade, boy do I feel bad for Richard Jefferson. The Bucks will look good on paper with Bogut, Redd, Mo Williams, and RJ, but I'm sure that won't translate onto the court as it never does for Milwaukee. During this past season the WC teams all made trades for big names, and it seems like the EC teams are doing the same thing. This is pretty interesting...

EDIT: How scary will GS be if they trade B Diddy for Chauncey and Sheed? I mean Baron is the heart and soul of that Warriors team, but adding Billups and Sheed allows for no drop off at the point, while making a huge upgrade at the PF position. As a WC rival, I don't like the idea of the Warriors making that trade.

damn just yi and bobby freakin simmons for RJ?

Milwaukee was one of the crappiest teams in the league to a borderline playoff team in the east, but that is one heck of a deal for the Bucks. They get a legit All-star sf to pair with Redd, just by dealing away two of their unhappy forwards, one of em which is unproven and the other a fat contract.
