Artest opted out of his contract. OMG, WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT!?!?!?!
If we can get him for the MLE, that'd be sweet. Hmm...maybe not.

Heck yeah we should go after him. But I expect him to ask for alot of money, something we dont have. If only he gave us a discount.

Opts out. Means he will end up out East with a team that can afford to pay him more than the MLE. Strike Ron off the list.

Boy am I glad we didn't make a last minute trade for him before the deadline. I was one of the fans who lost my cool and ranted cursing Morey for not getting Artest, but you'd have to be a fool to think Ron Ron wouldn't opt out for more money.

We have what 6-8 million in expiring with Jackson and Head? Then add Brooks, and a future 2nd, bam done deal. Artest played pretty well for Adelman for the most part of the 2006 season, I think he'd love to play for him.

RonRon's the poster boy for 3rd trimester abortions.

Give it a few years and he'll be hanging out with Latrell on somebody's repossessed yacht.

If we could get him locked up for a few years, then that's a deal Morey should seriously consider.

No they don't.

So only getting more money is the only reason he's going to opt out? I don't buy it. I think going to a contender for the MLE is definitely a possibility, as well. Ron indicated this himself earlier in the spring.

But he's always been seen as one of the most underpaid players in the league considering his production on the court. It won't be his only motive, but I'd think with him being only 28/29 years old, he's not at the point where he'd take a considerably lesser amount of money to go to a team that can compete more. Unless...he doens't get a that much substantially higher offer. :)

I wouldn't rule anything out when it comes to Artest. You really can't take anything he says seriously.

Dinky, you make it sound... like... he's crazy or something! I mean, I would love to have a guy who could just randomly bust a shotgun out of his truck and go dove hunting in the locker room before a game as much as anyone, but more importantly...

Is this in(s)ane topic ever going to die?

He's not crazy, just misunderstood....with a hint of instability.

And this topic will die when I say it dies. That, or when we package Brooks, B-Jax and Chuck Hayes for Artest and Udrih.

I guess that makes Charles Whitman eccentric?

Throwing weighted dumbbells at your teammates still strikes me as something that would be less-than-legal in most other professions ("police officer" and "drug dealer" excluded).

It will toughen them up. Artest demands perfection, and you either deliver or pay the consequences.

Besides, Yao will be in great shape if he's dodging dumbbells all the time.
