Po-Z?

According to this article, the Rockets are interested in bringing him back. Seems to want too much money though so I doubt it.

Posey’s hometown Cleveland Cavaliers are said to be putting together an offer, in addition to the Detroit Pistons, New Orleans Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets. New Jersey, which came close to signing Posey last summer before he was talked into going with the Celtics, also may revisit the situation, though like most teams the Nets are carving out cap space for 2010, when big names like LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade could hit the free agent market.

Posey, now looking for a long-term deal and what will be the best contract of his career, could be hurt by teams waiting for 2010 or even next summer, which also is expected to feature a better free agent crop than this offseason.

I loved it when he played here in 2003, too bad we let him walk. I'd love to have him back but it all depends on what kind of money he will demand. But then again hes basically another Battier, but of course Battier's defense is much better.

I'd be ALL OVER that if we could do it, too.

Battier, Posey, Scola, Landry, (maybe) Hayes
No one in the league would EVER out-hustle us.

And we would NEVER score a point with that line-up either.

It would be awesome!

I like Posey but he has a very similar game to Battier and plays the same position. There wouldn't be enough spare minutes to warrant signing Posey.

It'd be like watching a high school game, the final score is in the 30's.

But neither would anyone else!!!! It would be a frenetically pure comedy of errors.
(really i would never play them all at once, but having that option would be fun)

Backup SF/SG man. He can gun 3's. He's exactly what we need. Battier goes out with very little dropoff and McGrady has someone to spell him defensively. How would there not be enough minutes when that's exactly what we're looking for?

IMO Posey and Battier cannot play more than spot minutes at SG. They can match up defensively vs particular SGs but if teams go small or have a quick SG it'd be trouble. One of the great things about Battier is that he is an ironman and can play heavy minutes throughout a season while at the same time not being a liability. That added with his moderate contract I see no reason to sign Posey simply for backup SF minutes and insurance if Battier goes down. You have to factor in that reports say Posey is looking for his big payout, he'll likely cost even more than Battier.

You're probably right about his likely cost, but I think you're mistaken about his ability to log minutes at the 2.

Remember in Denver, he was known primarily as a slasher and played heavy minutes at the 2 and 3. He and Abdul-Wahad were interchangeable at those positions.

There's a name you thought you'd never see again: Tariq Abdul-Wahad.

I missed him when he left us in 2003. I would love to sign him. He would come in and play SF and that would give time to Donte Greene to develop and if we make the playoffs he could give us offense and defense like he did in the finals.

BTW, Can somebody please tell me why he left us to go to the Grizzlies? I sort of forgot.

Yeah, that would be sick, but most likely we will have to sign one. And I would go after Posey. In the fact that he can backup Battier and give Greene time to develop.

Free agent, money.
