I wonder if the Warriors' lawyers wrote his contract in legal gibberish that only another lawyer could understand and Gil signed for like actually 5 mill a year.

(The Wizards seem to be offering $125 million over six years. The Rockets at most can offer about $33 million over five years. Perhaps the Rockets feel that Arenas might not prefer their offer. -- Jonathan)

(The Rockets could afford it. If they had some star drop in their laps, they would go over the luxury tax line. They did last summer to sign Steve Francis. I imagine they would if they could get a Pau Gasol or Ray Allen. They would not for a role player on the edge of the rotation. Having a third top scorer would be helpful, but not mandatory. -- Jonathan)
