Heat - Rockets trade

Post#1 » by Hoops23 » Sat Jul 5, 2008 4:35 am

Heat receives Francis and Bobby Jax

Houston receives Banks and Ricky Davis (S & T)

The Rockets are close to the lux tax or in to it, depending where it is set. If the Rockets use their MLE, they'll be hit with the dollar for dollar tax.

Then why not just make a trade to add or fill some needs while getting below the tax?
Ricky Davis gives the Rockets another scoring and will be great of the bench. He played all of 82 games last year. Banks is a solid back up PG.

For Miami, its about the financial effect of the trade for them. If the Rockets wants Francis back, Miami can waive him.

if it works it sounds goood
ricky davis' character idk about from the troubles he has had..but giving away francis and bjax aint that bad for someone who is athletic scorer and puts up around 14 a game.
and im pretty sure banks can do more for us than francis can.

Good heavens no. Banks has major attitude problems, can't get along w/teammates and has 3 yrs to go on his contract.
Plus there's the little matter of your trade is not allowed under NBA rules. A sign-n-trade can't be combined w/another player in a trade,he has to be traded by himself. Your deal would have to be broken into 2 trades and Francis doesn't make enough for Banks, and Banks doesn't make enough for Jackson.(Francis $2.7milx125%=$3.4mil<Banks $4.176milx125%=$5.22mil<Jacksons $6.09mil.)

No we can get better offers for Jackson, there is no way the Rockets would want someone like Rickey Davis on their team anyways.

Thats a terrible offer. Ricky Davis is one those players that I would never want to see in a Rockets uniform. The Heat and Rockets are not good trading partners. I would be interested in Marion, but Im not sure we have the pieces to put together to make a good trade.

Hey, at least we're not seeing any Haslem offers this year.

Let me guess. It was package of Haslem for either Scola or Battier?

LOL at Ricky Davis. Noob posts like this make me laugh. Why in the world would we give up Jackson's contract for someone as bad as Ricky Davis?

I'm surprise to hear that you value Bobby Jax more. I hope this is not because you guys are homer. Ricky Davis played all of 82 games with Miami last season and was with good behavior. No news was heard regarding his attitude and trouble in Miami. In fact ESPN Chad Ford view him as a top 8 free agent.. Davis never ask out on the line-up and sit out the season as Marion and Wade did last season. Thats tells about his attitude.

Well, I thought the trade was good because it gives the Rockets another scoring threat and help TMac, and will be a good six man for a team. I thought a team like Houston is close to the tax is best in doing trades than using the entire MLE. Ricky is not bad to sign for a two year deal.

Maybe a good reason he didn't ask out of the lineup was because it was a contract year for him.
We don't want no where close to Banks' contract.

We gonna need to use the MLE anyway to sign Landry , so we would rather not give up 2 expiring contracts for 2 multi year contracts for players we don't like.
Sorry.

Good to know that he played all 82 games and you guys ended up with the worst record in the league. If we're shooting for the lottery, we'll try to get a hold of him. Thank you very much.

No thanks to Ricky Davis. Bobby Jackson as a player isn't very valuable, but Bobby Jackson as an expiring contract is rather valuable.

Though, to be fair, the Heat didn't get the worst record because of Davis, they got it in spite of his best efforts.

Getting Davis won't mean that we'll automatically have the worst record in the league. If Davis had that kind of power, believe me, he'd be a hot commodity in the league year after year for teams looking for the #1 or #2 pick.

I don’t like that trade for either of the teams sorry I would hope neither of the teams would consider it.
