this crap happens almost every year. teams get depserate and sign some mediocre player to a contract they dont deserve. after 2 years, some of these teams are gonna try and trade these players. maggette's contract is ridiculous, and bogut's is downright terrible. classic case of overpaying for talent and not getting that much in return from the players. there are few exceptions (brand, maybe josh smith) but for the most part these free agents are getting way more than they're worth

My guess is teams are overpaying scrubs in a desperate attempt to compete against Stern and his dirty deeds in order to have a semi-legit-not-really-though chance in hell of winning.
teehee.

Every time I see one of those crazy deals get signed, it makes me smile. Why?
One less team w/ the $ to sign Landry.
Keep 'em coming, NBA GMs. We love you here in Houston.

None of those are as bad as Rashard's contract. In fact I think those are all somewhat reasonable outside of possibly Bogut (who I think is good, but not 12m good).

Haha true. Still drives me nuts trying to figure out where they find the stupidity or motivation for some of them.

I won't rest assured until Indiana throws a fat wad of cash elsewhere because they seem to be our main competition for Landry.
Duhon's deal is correct as Moofs posted, 2 years for 6.5 mil. And I could be mistaken, but I thought Bogut's contract was worth 72 mil instead of 60.
It's ridiculous, but it seems to be the new NBA. Oh well...

Found a link that explains Bogut's deal. Turns out the money actually goes to help subsidize his invisible assistant rebounder crew. Some guys will do
anything to cheat. It's pathetic.

You mean the fan-originated rumors with no grounding in reality?

Happens every year in every sport. The bar goes up year after year.

I dont agree with the Diop and Maggette decisions
others are reasonable, Boguts upside is underrated...the guy is already a beast at his age..not polished enough but has a lot of potential

Andrew Bogut: 5 Years, 60 Million (Ridiculous)
Being a Bucks and Rockets fan i think i can provide a bit of insight to this..minor over-reaction to Boguts contract. Bogut's contract is actually fairly reasonable considering he IS the 2nd best TRUE center in the east and his constant improvement every year. When he first came into the league his defence was one of his major weaknesses, last season as well as providing IMO above average post defence he was in the top 10 (i think) in BPG as well as drawing numerous charges. He is also one of the best passing big men in the league and if he gets his college stroke back, then he'll be a real beast, he has really under-rated potential and has improved every year in the L.
As to the 72 mil King pointed out, that's if Andrew reaches the incentives put in his contract. The incentives can range from anything from games played to reaching the ECF. Most of the bucks board including myself hopes that one of the main incentives is his FT% improving, which will hopefully bring back his mid-range J.
Hope i helped !
BR
PS. Diops contract
