Spanoulis Update

This is for Rockets fans that like Spanoulis and are still interested in what he is doing. I request that the mods of this forum NOT delete this thread because they keep deleting ANY thread related to him, which is AGAINST site rules. He IS a former Rocket and plenty of former Rockets get updates here and they are NOT deleted by the mods.

The point of this thread is simply to tell his Rockets fans how he is doing. NO REASON for the mods to keep deleting such threads without any due cause.

Greece is 5-0 so far this summer:

Greece 79 - Slovenia 71
Greece 93 - Puerto Rico 87
Greece 72 - Brazil 65
Greece 89 - Australia 69
Greece 77 - Croatia 64

Spanoulis leads the national team in scoring and assists and has been the leading scorer and assister in both the German Super Cup Tournament and the Acropolis Tournament. Greece will soon play in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which begins July 14th.

Good to know that you're doing well overseas, V-Span.

I still wonder how you find time out of your day to post how well you're doing on forums.

Anyway, you may know the answer to this: A certain disreputable website said that your team offered Scola a crazy contract to come back to Europe.

What do you know about that?

HOLY FREAKING CRAP

Edit: It really is a bit of a scary thought that NBA teams could soon be competing for the services of their players with non-NBA teams who aren't bound by the CBA or any kind of interleague agreements that I'm aware of. Given currency exchange rates right now, the NBA might actually be a bit vulnerable to this sort of thing. :o

He was offered a 3 year 30 million euros contract (equal to about 48 million dollars) by Panathinaikos Athens. He accepted it and so did his agent. They requested that the Rockets release him and the Rockets refused. End of story. There was never any chance that Panathinaikos could get him because the Rockets would have to let him from his contract and there was never any chance of that happening.

But the money offered made Scola and his agent at least try to see if the Rockets would go for it, which they of course probably laughed at.

However, when his NBA contract runs out that is the type of competition the Rockets might be facing from Europe for his services if he is still in good shape at that time.

The Mod is doing his job. You're posting un-related Rockets material on Rockets board. We no longer owning his right. If you want to share his most updating news, do it on the Spurs board. They are the one owning his right. Please keep Spanoulis news away from us. Thank you very much.

That was reported in Greece. If you don't like it attack their "credibility". It has nothing do with my personal credibility. Someone asked me something about Scola being offered a contract and I answered in the way it was reported in Greece.

What the heck does that have to do with MY credibility?

Don't worry, you don't have any here so it's not likely you'll lose any. :) Thanks for answering the question to the best of your ability all the same.

Spanoulis no longer has any affiliation with the Houston Rockets. In addition to that, no one on this board cares about Spanoulis as our focus is on advancing in the playoffs, not Spanoulis's personal accomplishments.

Furthermore, I'm going to publicly warn you for backseat moderating. Vator and I are aware of how to do our job on this board, and it's certainly not your place to tell us the rules. If this was the 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd time then I wouldn't be a prick, but you and everyone else on this board know that has not been the case. Please, stop giving us V-Span updates because this board truly DOES NOT CARE. Thank you.

+ 1 to what Roosk said.

This man crush you have on Greek Mac is quite unhealthy. Of course the other prevalent opinion happens to be that you are him. In either case...still a sad state of affairs. Here are the cold hard facts.

1. He sucked here when he played more often than not, boasted a turnover ratio that makes Steve Francis look like John Stockton, while also managing to miraculously shoot a percentage that Rafer Alston would be ashamed of.
2. He is a quitter.
3. His NBA rights belong to the Spurs.
4. In the past you have made posts claiming that he was(or you are) better than guys like Chris Paul...I'll leave it at that to not be rude.
5. Obviously you have some issues if you continue to post information about a player where it isn't well received. Each time posters trash him and make fun of you before I even get around to putting you out of your misery yet you keep coming back for more. You don't notice the tone of the posts in this thread as negative? It is ALWAYS like this. Obviously the supply is far more than the demand my friend.
