While one Rockets career ended on Monday, another began.
The Rockets agreed to release center Loren Woods from his contract on Monday, then signed this season’s first-round pick Donte’ Greene before their first game in the Las Vegas NBA Summer League on Monday.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/5887748.htmli wonder if morey is going to try and sign another 7 footer or will he just go with dorsey, chuck, landry (hopefully), and maybe scola to back up yao? still not sure on mutombo's status. dont get me wrong i didnt care for woods, i am just curious as to see what morey is gonna do next. we still need more moves to be made before this can be considered a successful offseason.

1)They must be sure they will sign Motumbo.
2)Morey must not be planning any trades that will increase payroll as Woods was basically a $1mil contract that could be waived by first of August for virtually nothing.
3)Opens up the 15nth roster spot.

Good signing to me. Greene just dropped 40 pts in his first summer league action.

Morey added Monday’s moves will not be the last, saying he planned a “minor” trade for this month.
"There is definitely going to be a roster management move,” Morey said, "probably in the next two weeks.”
Hello Ron Artest

Maybe you did not see "MINOR" no ron artest...we're just clearing roster spots.

Firstly, I'm not placing too much hope on their summer league performances.
Examples: John Lucas III and Aaron Brooks.
Secondly, how can trading for Ron Artest be minor?
I don't think they will want to deal for SF or PF.
Currently, we are filled at these positions.
I see the PG more of a concern.
Alston is good but not terrific. He cannot produce the goods over 40 mins usually.
So i guess someone of his caliber would be a decent pick-up if we could find any.

Offer from a Bucks fan: Would the rockets consider a signed and traded Landry + Bobby Jackson (or different filler) for Mo Williams and Charlie Villanueva?

Easy killers.
I figured with the amount of Ron Ron hopes in a Rocket uniy floating around on this board sarcasm would go notice to the beloved pipe dream

Woods, who had been signed late last season to a partially-guaranteed contract for next season, had been receiving interest from several European teams and asked for his release.
