I just found this on the General Board.. A 45 year old Michael Jordan says he's better than Kobe, a little sarcasm maybe, but still a pretty good video.

I'd take Jordan in his prime over Kobe in his prime any day of the week.
Hell, the only version of Jordan that the current version of Kobe could beat is the retired out of shape Jordan. Even the Wizards Jordan could probably take Kobe.
No contest.
EDIT:

If I were a retired NBA star, I'd also crush all challengers at high school assemblies. No mercy!

Jordan will never cease to amaze me.
As far as being a better player than Kobe, that's a no brainer to me. I do sometimes think that Kobe is a better offensive player though. Some of the things Kobe does are unreal. He draws more attention too since the rules on double teams are different from Jordan's days and he still manages to hit ridiculously tough fadeaways and stuff.
I just think Jordan was smarter, tougher, a better defender and more intimidating to opponents than Kobe. Jordans work ethic and desire to win are also unmatched in my eyes. All these qualities make him the greatest player to me.
If young T-Mac had Jordan's work ethic, he would be the greatest player ever.

Jordan is just speaking the truth..
And if that one trade (Pippen, for T-Mac) Went down t-mac would have learned from Jordan and would be on par with Kobe, if not better.

Of course he was. A 40 year old Jordan probably would have won a championship with that stacked Laker team that was in the Finals.

Never. Kobe hits insane shots every once in a while, Jordan did them on the regular.

I've always thought that Jordan was, hands down, better than Kobe. I think you can end the discussion by saying that Jordan would never let his team blow a 24 point lead at home...much less in the finals. Never. Nor would he bow out of the finals in such embarrassing fashion (or bow out of the finals period for that matter).

I don't want to take anything away from Detroit in '04, but if Jordan had the same lineup that Kobe did, there's NO WAY that the Lakers lose that series.
1 - Payton / Fisher / Pargo
2 - Jordan / Kareem Rush / Ime Udoka
3 - Devean George / Bryon Russell / Luke Walton / Rick Fox (*injured)
4 - Malone / Horace Grant / Medvedenko
5 - Shaq / Brian Cook / Jamal Sampson
Looking back on it, I'm remembering just how much of an upset it was.

How about the rules for handchecking that they have now? You can't ride a guys hip as he's going to the hoop any more. You can't foul a guy "hard" for fear of getting suspended. The league is too damn girly now. Sure the guys now are stronger, probably more athlectic than in the past, but what's the point if you can't use it? The players today are big just to look good on TV b/c the league will suspend you if you're in the vicinity of a superstar and he trips over his own feet. Jordan got to the rim and finished while being "hacked" by 2/3 guys. "Being hacked" today is equivalent to being bumped in the past. This Jordan/kobe comparison crap is stupid. It's just Stern's way of trying to bring back the huge fan base of the past when quality was in the NBA (Jordan said it himself in an ESPN mag article). Stern saw the way the league was heading years ago and started bringing foreign players in with good fundamentals, but he doesn't understand that it's his damn rules that started all this. Players can't shoot (one of the fundamentals of the game) so the game scores dropped and to bring the scores back up, hand-checking fouls were established. Now anyone that garners any type of "hype" is considered a "superstar" to Stern and is given "special treatment" a la Dwayne wade and is sent to the foul line on phantom calls. International FIBA tournaments and Olympics however are bigger than the league and showed how much Wade really sucked (due his lack of shooting fundamentals) and Lebron got called for traveling everytime he dribbled b/c a blind eye was turned in the NBA that allowed to walk all over the court.
In summary, hahahha the league isn't what it used to be and players (though not their fault) aren't as fundamentally sound b/c the "man" (stern) or whoever controls him only care about money and not the actual game of basketball. That is why Jordan will always be the best because he made himself the best, not the league or their PR or advertising team.

Not saying Kobe is better than Jordan, but that is an unfair assessment.
Kobe and Shaq had their chemistry issues, Malone was injured through out the series and only played the first game, our starting power foward for that series for Slava Medvenko... Both Horace Grand and Malone were injured for that series and Rasheed was eating us alive, either taking it in on whoever was guarding him(medvenko) or kicking out to the open Billups. To say it was an upset I think takes away from the Pistons. The Pistons were a more athletic team in that series and the Lakers then did not match well with that Piston team. I'd go as far to say that Detroit Piston team is far better than the Boston Celtic team that just won the championship.

Jordan played in the era with more physical defense, no zone defense, and hand check rule allowed

I love me some Hakeem, but he ain't #1 or even top 5. Hell Kobe isn't even top 10. Top 6 all time are the immortal 6 with MJ, Wilt, Kareem, Russell, Magic and Bird. 7-10 are guys like Shaq, Hakeem, Duncan, West, Oscar and Moses Malone

These are some silly lists.
As long as Clyde, Scottie, Isaiahahaha, Barky, and TD are in there, I'm throwing my weight behind Celtics great Tom "The Bomb" Sanders. I personally think Isaiah is one of the most overrated players to ever lace em up, right next to Bill Walton.
