[ESPN]-Artest reassures Yao on chemistry concers

A really encouraging article , some of the highlights:
I spoke to Yao and I told him I can't wait to play with him. I was a little bit down, because I'm so far beyond [the brawl]. But everything is going to be good.

I'm not demanding anything," Artest said. "I will play in Houston [this season] and I will have a great year and they will have the first option to re-sign me. This is a big opportunity because I'm going to be playing with the best center in the game."

Great news I really like how Artest handled this , and it's also good to hear that he is willing to play the season out and go from there.

Both players handled it perfectly. Yao was sincere with his words, and Artest took those words to heart. Now it's time to put everything into action.

He was just on PTI a little bit ago. Great interview. I hope the situation between he and Yao is resolved. Funny how everybody in the NBA seems to have McGrady's number as thats how Artest got Yao's number to ring him up.

We are fine. I think Yao just needs to understand that chemistry can only get you so far. Well we actually know how far....games 7 and 6 against the Jazz. Winning is everything and sometimes you gotta shake things up in order to get there. Its never as easy as the Celts getting KG and Allen or the Lakers getting Gasol....its the moves like this one...the risky moves that are more common.

Morey did good. Artest will be fine.

Wow I really want this season to begin already , just sign Landry cheap and this is a dream off season.

I still can't believe we have a guy who can score 20 ppg and is the best defender in his position , it's an amzing feeling to finnaly have enough talent , just hope everything works out.

"I was a little bit down, because I'm so far beyond [the brawl]."

"If you go back to the brawl, that's a culture issue right there. Somebody was disrespecting me, so he's got to understand where I'm coming from. People that know me know that Ron Artest never changed."

So... which one is it? Are you beyond the brawl, or are you going to go charging off if you're disrespected again?

Hate to be all doom-and-gloom again, guys, but this is exactly what worries me about him.

To fair...the only place he would probably actually go off in is Utah. And I mean really?....would we be mad if he beat the crap out of one of their fans? Would we? I wouldn't be.

Ron Artest handling the situation the way he handled it shows his maturity and it shows he's buying into the chemistry.

Ron Artest seems to be a lot smarter and more mature than we were lead to believe. Scary thought, I think he may actually think before he makes some of the comments that he does because he knows it will get people in a frenzy. If it weren't for the infamous brawl, he may have been seen more of as a Charles Barkley type of loud mouth/enforcer(you know he did spit on a little girl once while trying to spit on a male fan and was known for his off the wall comments) rather than a worse version of Dennis Rodman.

That dude has to be be schizo or bi-polar. He reminds me of TO, one of the best at what he does, but has an ego the size of this universe. It's all good b/c unlike the media all I care about is production. The media is like women/feminine males, they get all riled up over words.

You mean Negatron. ;)

And really... it's more realism in this case to say that he's one of the most unpredictable players in the league. Face it--he's just as likely to be a total headcase as be finals MVP next year. Neither would surprise me all that much.

From a Pacer Fan, Ron Ron was absolutely loved in Indiana. He was charitable with both his time and money. He loved kids and the city of Nap. On the court, an absolute beast. I kid you not, that season, right up until the brawl, Ron was on fire. He can do it all. Lockdown defende, check soild outside shoot u to the 3pt, check,post-up check, almost 3 steals a game, and can rebound. The thing about Ron is he likes the image. To have people wonder really what kind of a person Ron really is. Also, he never really gets into any off court things like the drugs, clubs etc. I know he had a couple domestic situations, but Ron doesnt really want to hurt people. If you look at the tape of the brawl, he could have literally periolized that kid if he was out of controll rage or somnething. He will do stupis things though, like ask for time off to do a rap cd (I wanted to choke him for that, plus you can't rap at all Ron) or say a dumb comment here and there.

At the end of the day though, it is well worth it. If everybody stays health and he team gels, I think only LA with a health Bynum, could challenge your run to the title

Good luck I think you guys will end up loving Ron.

I think Yao Ming needs to shutup every once in awhile. He wants to talk about bad team chemistry, how about this for bad team chemistry....

-Yao Ming at his press conference to announce his season ending injury last season-
"This really isnt a big deal. If i couldnt play for my chinese team in the olympics, that would be a big deal."

thats just (Please Use More Appropriate Word) since houston is the one paying you. No one really cares about olympics crap. if the us wins, whoopty doo, if the rockets win the title, we are all partying for a month. the nba is important, olympics garbage is not really

It certainly is (Please Use More Appropriate Word) for someone to consider representing his home country IN his home country(where he happens to be a legend) in the Olympics(which is also a lifelong dream of his) to be more important and special than winning a championship(or at least playing for one) in a foreign country simply because they happen to be paying him.

What a dumbass.

I do agree however about not giving a damn if the US wins anything, especially compared to my home team winning a Championship.

don't use quotation marks if it's not a real quote.

He didn't say that.... come on... Stop spinning this like the ****ing Sacramento media.

I think atleast 95% of the posters here acknowledged what Yao said was stupid. He shouldn't have gone there and he said something regrettable despite not knowing the guy at all. He needs to watch out for the media, because sometimes he's just too brutally honest.

Come on, guys. Yao was really out of line with his comments. How can you not expect Ron to take this the wrong way:

"I AM THIS MOTHA **** FRANCHISE! RON ARTEST!? IS YOU SERIOUS?! WHO THE **** IS RON ARTEST TO THINK HE CAN COME HERE AND **** THEY CHEMISTRY UP!!? THAT PUNK ASS MA **** BE JUMPING INTHE STANDS AN ****. HE GONNA FIND OUT THAT YAO MING DON'T PLAY. I MEAN YAO MING DO PLAY, BUT HE DON'T **** AROUND"- Actual Yao Ming quote from the Sacto Bee

I'm surprised Ron wasn't more upset.
