Rockets 2008-2009 schedule

Post#1 » by skbucks1985 » Wed Aug 6, 2008 9:23 pm

The only thread I see is on signing up for game threads. Here's a link to the schedule:
http://www.nba.com/rockets/schedule/

Looking at our schedule, it looks like a tough october/november once again. Of the 18 games, 11 are on the road, and 11 are against playoff teams and also one against Portland whom I believe will be a playoff-caliber team.

December doesn't look too bad. Of the 15 games, 7 are on the road and only 6 are against playoff teams, although there are two games against Golden State.

In January they start the month with a 5 game road trip where they play 4 EC playoff teams but the rest of the month isn't too bad. Overall, of the 15 games 8 are on the road, 8 against playoff teams.

February is once again the easy month of the season for this team as only 3 of the 11 games are on the road and just 2 are agaisnt playoff teams and both of the games against playoff teams are at home.

In March, 10 of the 15 games are against playoff teams but only 6 of the 15 are on the road.

Finally in April, 5 of the 8 are against playoff teams and 5 of the 8 are on the road.

Not alot of national tv games. But I am sure ESPN will pick up our games with Artest now.

I believe the schedule was finished before the Artest trade. Ron Artest is precisely the reason why we have so few national games on TV. The NBA doesn't like him. Stern doesn't like him. Casual fans for the most part despise him. Artest isn't exactly the most marketable guy in the league.

ESPN isn't going to change any games unless they have to, like if we went on another streak or if another team's big player gets injured and that team gets removed from their schedule. Other than that, they aren't just gonna pick up games like that. This is how ABC/TNT/ESPN have done it, NBATV however likes to change up a lot since it's not much of a hassle for them. But then again, NBATV is not really "National" TV.

Which is amazing, considering we only play 11 games that month!

What he probably means is that we start where we started last year which was January and end in Mid-March which is reasonably possible because we play Boston in January (that's where we started the streak) and we don't play Boston again for the year.

Reasonable because Boston is the only team that can beat us? We were the second team in the history of the league to win 22 games in a row, it wouldn't be reasonable for us to do it again if we played the Knicks 22 straight times.

Have some damn faith as a Rockets fan... lol.. yeah well it's not really likely to happen, but I am keeping some faith that it will and we can have two records in the books.

How is the game on Nov 4 not televised on National tv against Boston?

Brutal early , easier in the middle , then tough in the end but not as tough as last year.
Overall better schedule than last year.

Yea and I'm sure most of the games will be on FSN. Other than watching games in HD, I dislike the talkers on ESPN. TNT is okay because they're relatively smarter and know a thing about basketball.

I agree that its unreasonable to expect it to happen but if you look at the 23 game stretch between January 9th and March 3rd, is by far the easiest stretch of games for this team the January 25th game against Detroit is probably the only game this team wouldn't be favored in.

I bought NBA League Pass last year and loved being able to watch all of the games, but I'm not sure if I want to spend that much money again this year. Was anyone able to watch all of the games online last season?

Not gonna happen this year, the NBA has a new security system for NBA League Pass broadband. :) I'm happy to say that I'm going to buy League Pass once again this year.

Unless someone can figure out a way to beat their new security, but even when someone did, their site was down after a few weeks because the NBA probably filed a copyright thing against them.

Oh damn , I don't know how I will be able to watch the games now.
Chinese channels don't stream a lot of games.
