Didn't see a thread about the Olympics or USA Basketball here so decided to make one..

The opening ceremony starts in about an hour. :)

Ehhh, who cares about the opening ceremony. The most interesting thing is watching a country's flag bearer be its only athlete.

The sports I'm interest in are basketball obviously, swimming, track, and soccer.

I figures if Coughlin can get her 6, Phelps can get his 8, the US team wins, Tyson Gay wins, the we get a bunch of gold in other random events we can maintain our olympic medal dominance. I don't see the women's soccer team winning without Wambach though.

Good job for France, that Lithuania-Argentina game was pretty exciting. I hope the USA-China game is even more exciting, I can already feel it, it's going to be the biggest sport event watched. It's going to break record books.

hey, they should be at least 1 billion watchers I've heard.
Dunno tough how many they were for Bucks-Rockets last year, or for the Super Bowl.
Also, even tough I know the score, I'll watch Greece Spain (it is aired later on french tv) because there is a lot of players I like on those teams.
3 h before USA-China :)

Yep, just saw that article. That's almost 20% of the world population and that's shocking by itself. Man, this game is gonna be so hyped up. The Bucks-Rockets games were only 200 million and I say ONLY because they are expecting an excess of a billion.

I watching everything in the Olympics. Everything that Team USA is in and any game that I find interesting I start to watch it. I've been doing it since 1988 when I watched my first Olympics.

Phelps has just made my list on athletes to watch. He is just a god at swimming, just doing a phenomenal job for team USA.

In the U.S. the most popular sports go like this
1. Football
2. Baseball
3. Nascar (by TV ratings)
4. Basketball
5. Hockey
6. Soccer

Now obviously Football, Nascar and Hockey aren't in the Olympics so nobody can watch that. I don't know when Baseball starts in the Olympics but there is a team for the U.S. in it. Basketball obviously you know about. Soccer should be fun to watch, the women are doing a good job even though they lost a game. I haven't seen any of the men's games yet.

Right now I'm watching fencing, obviously more interested because it's french guy, but I love some sports where french are not in, or don't have any chance for medal:

-basketball of course, even tough our NT is not in the JO
- swimming, I love the two stars of the France(Manaudau and Bernard), but I like Phelps as well, and I like watching when they swin as teams;
-Soccer of course, I like it very much, just watched the Bresil game, two goals by Ronnie
-Boxing is also of the sports I like
- Badminton and Tennis are also favorites of mine

And of course, I like some stars of the JO, notably hurdlers Liu Xiang and Dayron Robles, guys like Tyson Gay, basketball women players like Bird and Jackson, some soccer players, ect ect

EDIT: and that's another medal for France ( fencing :) ). I hope it's the gold !!!

So, how's everyone is about Yao right now??
Not bad, I would say.Obviously he's not in his best shape, but he's playing quite good for a player with only 3 weeks of training.
And I'm not really impressed with the US team now..

So good to see Yao playing again , he obviously not in shape but he is playing good , they are not feeding him enough.
And it was nice to see him shoot some jumpers , we need him to be confident with his jump shot next year.

Posted this coment on the Lakers board.

Kobe dunked on Yue in the 2nd quarter at the 4:45 mark. Then Lebron dunked on him at the 2:29 mark. Then Bosh at the 1:54. Bad sequence, but It took a lot of courage to go up with those guys though. Not many players would have done that. I was surprised he had the jumping ability to even contest the two against Kobe and Lebron. The kid has guts, he just needs to learn how and when to take advantage of that length and athletic ability.

I've been slightly impressed with his game so far.

just glad that the Yao injury in the 3rd quarter wasn't serious.

US half court offense doesn't look that great either.
