Artest doesn't sound very commited to being here long term. He's going to the highest bidder after one good year in Houston. I dont know if we can keep him if he behaves and performs like we all expect him to. I'm seriously begin to think that Ron Ron is gonna be a one year rental.

Beginning? That's been the expectation.

what makes you think he's not committed to more than one year? He does seem excited to play for us, and doesn't look like he will cause trouble. I don't know how he feels about long term deals, but he wants to win now, so I can see him being ready for more than one year with us.

In completely unrelated news, several season ticket holders have given up their lower deck seats.

I am not worried , if he plays well and we have a deep playoff run or even finals apperance Les will pay him no doubt , we waited10+ years to get out of the 1st round and if we do , Les will pay him.

We will be able to pay the most than any other team , and I don't know how many teams with cap space there are next off season , especially one's who are willing to pay him a lot and hurt their chances and don't have cap space on 2010.
“He didn’t miss?” , “That’s fantastic. That’s tremendous. I wish I could have a day like that. I dream of the day I could go 12-for-12.”-Rafer Alston

He's gonna be unrestricted. How are we able to pay the most? Afaik we'll be able to offer him the MLE.

Ah crap, it's been so long since we BR'ed a player I'd forgotten all about it. That said, I have no idea.

Artest is going to ask for near Max if he plays well.

12-13 Million dollar a year is not out of the realm of possibility if he behaves appropriately and performs as expected. I dont know if Les is willing to give Artest that kind of money long term. Resigning Artest to a multi year deal is like a double edged sword. You want to keep him, especially if he plays well, yet you dont necessarily want to give him a 4 or 5 year commitment.

I think theres a good chance he bolts next year.

That goes without saying.

But what if we dont make win the ship? Giving Artest 12 Mil a year will ensure Luxury tax hell for Les for the duration of his contract.
