More "minor" trades in the works (plus Landry/Mutombo)

http://www.clutchfans.net/news/1484/mor ... es_likely/"We still have some minor trades likely," said Morey, specifically citing the Steve Novak trade to the Clippers as an example of the type we could probably expect (which might make one wonder about Luther Head right about now).
While minor trades were "likely", Morey added the Rockets are always keeping their ears to the ground.
Landry, a restricted free agent, has been holding out for a bigger Rockets offer while Mutombo recently told Channel 2 in Houston that he's ready to come back to the Rockets but has not gotten a contract offer.
Uh oh, last time Morey promised us a "minor trade", we saw what happened.

I wonder what he has in mind , maybe Luther or Hayes.
But I wouldn't call that minor trade personally , Head and Hayes are useful rotation players.
About Hayes I am not worried because we have enough 4's if we sign Landry , but Luther can be used , Barry is old and T-Mac gets injured often.

i agree with max on this one. if we have this roster going into the season, im feeling good about it. chuckwagon will be missed. he's our shorter, but better version of ryan bowen. good defense, but absent offense. i wouldnt mind seeing francis gone and having another backup that could play both guard positions like dermarr johnson or shaun livingston. having just tmac and barry at the sg kinda worries me some. i hope they are both healthy all year but it would be nice for another backup to them.

I was watching an Iranian television channel and saw that the Rockets and Grizzlies are reportedly interested in Iranian center Hamed Hadadi. I don't know how legitimate of a source it was being that it was foreign, but I know for sure that I saw an article on RGM recently reporting that Memphis was, in fact, pursuing Hadadi. I don't think we have any money to sign him, but it kind of threw me off guard to hear about us possibly going after this guy.
Through 3 Olympic games thus far, he's averaged 15/8/3 for Iran.

well if T-Mac and Barry go down we can start Artest and Battier on the wings. If 1 of them goes down as well then it's time to have a fire sale on our talent.

Basically if the whole team gets injured, we're screwed.

Head and Hayes need to go.
We can get a pick and cash for them at least.

I'd like to see how Dorsey pans out before saying Hayes is expendable. He's a nice backup who is, at face value, cheap. (If he's going to throw us over the luxury tax though, he isn't worth more than double what he's paid.)

First I've heard of this. I'd like to see how the Rockets would go about signing the guy. He sounds like he'd be a solid backup off of the bench for Yao.

Where does Francis fit with this team. Might he be traded for a true backup point guard?

Brooks outplayed Francis last season.
And summer league means nothing , Julian Wright from NO was a good rotation player an dhe shot 25% for the entire summer league.
If Brooks starts shooting like he is capable of , Francis has zero chance to see the floor.

i don't think Brooks outplayed Francis last year
Francis went down
Brooks was inconsistent
that's why we went out and get BJax

Brooks had a few nice games and even though Francis was injured he just had one good game.
But it's not only about that , he looked like a players who lost all of his self confidence.
He would be WIDE open from 3 and not even look at the basket , struggle to get the ball past halfcourt and as soon as he did , stopped his dribble.
The 2 games he started where 2 of our worst games in the season.
I really expect nothing out of him , if he indeed beats Brooks for the backup spot I would be really surprised.

And hopefully he is healthy , he made some bad decisions regarding his health.
1st he tried to just rest and thought it would help his knee , that didn't work out.
Then he tried some rehabilation with that personal trainer from New Orleans and that also didn't work out.
And only this past season he decided to do the surgeory to fix the problem, I hope he has enough time to be in shape for training camp.
I wonder what could have happened if he did the surgeory right away , until his last season with the Magic and when he 1st got traded to the Knicks he was still playing like a star and looked good physically.
Since then, already in his 2nd season with the Knicks he became an unathletic scrub.

I KNOW!!!
It didn't help me at all that one of those games was against the Mavs. I talked so much trash to Mavs fans here in D/FW before the game that I looked like a complete idiot after they blew us out. By the time that victory #17 in our winning streak came along (against the Mavs), all my trash talking was for nothing.
"We already beat you," they said, "badly."
"That win didn't mean anything; we didn't have Dirk."
"You remember when we had Dirk, right? And you had Yao then too. And wasn't Francis starting for you?"
Stupid Francis.
