According to an Iranian media source, ISNA, the Houston Rockets, along with the Memphis Grizzlies, are one of several teams who are interested in signing 7'2 Iranian center Hamed Hadadi.

Interestingly, Yao and Hadadi squared up against one another several weeks ago in an exhibition match between Iran and China.

Too bad the US Goverment laid the smack down on that idea.

The NBA has already started the process of applying for the license granting him an exemption. Based on recent U.S. policy, most notably Condoleeza Rice's statement saying she wanted to pave the way for more interaction between Iranian nationals and the United States, along with the State Department's recent approval of the Iranian team's trip to Utah for summer league action, there is a good chance he will be cleared for NBA negotiations in the next few weeks.

He could always sign with Toronto.

Hopefully we can sign him if Mutumbo decides to retire.

I've already made mention of this in the "minor trades" thread. Hadadi has been statistically impressive so far through 4 Olympic games, but I don't quite know if he is NBA ready as of now.

Heard that teams are now allowed to deal with him and Memphis was reported to be the frontrunner. Is Morey working to get him too?
