As a completely unbiased 3rd party, would the Rockets be interested in Ben Gordon? I realize that he's not a true "PG", but McGrady can handle the ball somewhat.
I only ask because after seeing the Wiretap, it occurred to me that the Rockets might be able to get a steal of a deal for him right now.

Re: Ben Gordon???
Well obviously if he were to come cheap, he'd definitely be welcomed. Depending on how well he can guard PG's, he could even be a starter on the team or a terrific 6th man at the worst (at least one that's a significant upgrade over Head). Seems wishful thinking at this point though...

If he had a cheap price tag, he would have already signed in Chicago.

Re: Ben Gordon???
How would any team get a 'steal of a deal' for him. He's not under a contract, and I sure as hell wouldn't pay the guy 12m/yr that he apparently wants (wake me up when 6th men get paid that much). The fact that it'd probably be a sign-and-trade makes it even worse because not only would we have to overpay him we'd give CHI some pieces. No thanks.

Re: Ben Gordon???
What position is he going to play?
SG? Already got T-Mac, Battier, Barry
PG? I'll rather have Alston.
Unless he's happy with 20 mpg, then I don't think Owner Les will be happy paying Gordon 8-10M/yr just to play 20mpg

Re: Ben Gordon???
I got it, Ben Gordon not needed, check.
I am pretty unfamiliar with the Rockets salary situation. My original thought was that if the Rockets had some unwanted contracts, it might be possible to dump them on Chicago and acquire an asset. Once again, not totally familiar with each players skills, but if McGrady can run the offense at all, Gordon would be an amazing perimeter threat. As both Yao and Artest can score in the paint, Gordon could help make the defense pay for doubling either those two players or a help defender who was trying to cheat over on McGrady.
After reviewing the Rockets salaries more closely, I don't see any real salary dump options without giving up a core player, so once again, I hear what you're saying.

We could really use Gordon make no mistake about it but we can't afford him.
He wants too much money and signing Artest next off season is a bigger priority.
