Let's sign Damon Stoudamire

houston rockets.com mentions we should consider taking a look at him. I agree. Rafer is going to be the starter, but francis and brooks are very risky having them as backups. Francis could be great, but he must come in in shape. its not a guarantee he will do it. And for Brooks, well hes a little midget, and is the worst player in the nba. he will never make it in this league. even luther head tore up the summer league last summer, but aaron brooks went like 2 for 11 every game in the summer league lol. he is worst than luther and that is sad. so if francis doesnt work out we might could use damon stoudamire

Damon USED to be a good player ten years ago. How much burn did he get in SA?
Yeah.
So Aaron "midget" Brooks is not a good back up and is the "worst player in the nba," so you want to replace him with a shorter, older, slower version of himself. Explain to me how that works.

ummm ok ill explain it. it isnt hard. aaron brooks doesnt even play good in a summer league. damon had decent games last year for the defending champs spurs. how was that confusing to understand?

If he can't get burn over jacque vaughn then what makes you think he will get burn with us fam? Stoudamire is good for one thing.... making open shots. He used to be damn good @ it, but he couldn't even do that with the spurs and you know he isn't gonna make the players around him better or play solid defense so what do we need him for. A couple of years ago maybe but now..... nah....

aaron brooks had a better season than damon did last season. summer league doesnt mean ****. tim duncan at multiple other stars struggled in their summer league too
joe alexander had a poor summer league
hes still expected to a versatile contributer on the bucks throughout the season

Yeah uh, if you're basing your opinions of players off of the summer league, you should, um, re-evaluate... things. Like, everything. Also I like how you flipped opinions of who the worst player in the league is AFTER the playoffs ended without a single game having been played. That sort of thing takes a truly magnificent ability to step back and critically evaluate players.
Anyway, I'd be all for signing the not-so-mighty mouse were we not over the luxtax already. You figure out a way to subtract 2-3 million realistically and sure, why not?
You won't though, so don't waste too much time on it... (Disclaimer: I didn't see him play last year, or in several years really, but ... I don't expect Francis to contribute - though I won't be floored if he does, just surprised - and Brooks, well, we can probably use another vet backup. Didn't worry about too many factors considering he's not currently a realistic acquisition)

I fully agree.

The Rockets went the vet shoot-first PG route last yr. Morey is smart enough to learn from his mistakes,so no Damon.
I don't think the issue w/Francis is if he comes into camp in shape,it's more basic. Can he even play anymore? Notice anyone missing from the article on PG battles on court? It's a month to camp and Steve can't even play in pick-up games?

No way , Stoudamire is even shorter than Brooks and on top of that he is old and plays no defense , he is not what we need.

But Damon is not a shoot-first PG. His assist rating last season was around 24, which was significantly better than Jackson's 15. The guy can still distribute the ball.

Fox news reported last night that the Rockets are interested in him. I was too lazy to log on and post the news though, but there it is.

I wouldn't mind gicing him an unguranteed contract and let him battle with Strawberry and Harris for the last roster spot , but nothing more than that.

Ya'll have to understand that a high assist rate does not necessarily mean "good". It just means that he uses that ratio of his possessions on assists. What's more important is how he uses his other possessions. That's the difference between Steve Nash and Brevin Knight.

i'm not completely convinced on Brooks or Francis...so if we can get Damon for minimal why not. it sounds like he's working pretty hard this summer to show he can still play, and if he can he's more than a capable back-up pg

I think we should go and get Damon. Im still not sold on Brooks to be our backup PG, and there is talk that Francis wont be on our team this season. He is a great shooter and makes so and so decisions, but we must sign Landry and Mutombo more than anything.

if we're going to sign Stoudamire
we need to clear another spot for him
which mean you can say goodbye to Francis
unless Morey find someone to take Head

Ah ok. Yeah uh, I can't see most Hollinger stats, so don't bother with them. Also I have issues with at least a few of his formulas.
