Houston Rockets forward Shane Battier is expected to miss the majority of the team’s preseason schedule
due to inflammation in his left foot. The inflammation occurred during his rehabilitation from offseason
surgery to remove bone spurs which was performed on May 9. The seven-year veteran is expected to be
sidelined for up to four weeks.

Thank god its only the Preseason. Hopefully nothing big.

At least this puts to rest the "who should start at SF" argument for now...Battier probably won't be at 100% when the season starts

In a perfect world, there would be no injuries. But this isn't, so I'd rather we have a few injuries in the beginning than toward the end, where it actually counts.

In the Chronicle article , Morey says that if Artest is willing , Adelman is probably leaning to bring off the bench.
Either way I don't mind, We will start with Battier , Artest will play miore minutes , get more toches at the begining and then we finish with Artest and other teams will need to find a way to guard both he Yao and T-Mac.

Good that it happens now and he won't miss games that count. The only thing I worry about is if this thing is a recurring thing..

pple shouldnt be that bummed out if someone gets hurt during the offseason, even if its during preseason. i dont wanna start november WITHOUT SHANE BATTIER! unless ron can play 48minutes whenver we play a close game, which should be most if not all of our games in november.

Injuries happen to every team dude. Its a long season. You pray for no serious injuries to key players. Thats all you can hope for.

Is there a possibility Battier is faking his "injury"?
Rockets now have a defensive specialist in Artest.
Battier wants to test the organizations if he still is view as an important asset.

No chance in hell that he is faking his injury. Why would he do that in the 1st place? He knows we are trying to win now, and he wants to be apart of that.

Shane Battier is not that type of player!!!

Truly sad part is looked like Adelman was going to use Artest off the bench,where he would have been ideal. Now,he starts and it looks like a demotion for him to go to the bench. Arrrgh!

If you had said Battier was faking to keep from being traded,there might have been a bazillion to 1 chance you were right. But to see his value,sorry,no way. His contract runs for several more yrs and he keeps his starting spot by showing w/his play that he's the better option.

Maybe this will be a blessing in disguise.
We know Battier in the starting lineup works great , now lets see Artest as a starter , how well that turns out and when Battier is ready he can come back to start and we will see what works better and go that way.
