of corse they see something in him, hes a ben wallace type player. 6'9 265, a lil bigger but hes still got athleticism. hes used as a bail out option when he was in collee, so he has some offense but its not wat we need from him thank god. avg 2 blk/1atl/9rbs. over 55fg%..

if he can getta jumper he can be our startin pf and a very good starting pf. i cant belibe we got him for 3.5 mil,. were fortuante ass mofos to get these contracts

Looks like they are hoping to avoid another Landry scenerio next year with this second rd pick.

Lock him up lock term that way we don't have to pay our backup as much as our starting PF makes.

I hope they see something in the kid cause my exceptations are low. Like Shelden Williams low.

Yesh, Sheldon Williams low? That is damn low... but hey if Morey AND tmac see something in this guy cant be a bust. Expectations should be low for second rounders anyway

hes played 4 years of college ball puttin up top defensive numbers. hes 6'9 and athletic, a lil undersized but that doesnt matter for him. hes a good player for us to work on. why wouldnt you throw 3.5 mil over 4 years for someone like dorsey?

i love these small contracts were gettin our players for. nice feeling to know you dont have an overpaid fat ass on the bench eatin up ur cap.

Agree with everything you said but he is about 6'7.5-6'8 max.
He has long arms though and a long standing reach and you grabd rebounds with your arms not your head so he will be fine.

I think Morey's done it once again. Great price, long term. And if he doesn't pan out like we want him to within the next two years, he's outta here. This is a low risk high reward situation. Couldn't have asked for more with this one. Good job Morey.

It's kinda strange to me because DM has been "cheap" on recent draft picks due to the LT issue. I don't know why Dorsey is getting paid like a 1st rounder. But I'm glad that hes signed.

Nice, our depth at power forward is better than ever now. Scola-Landry/Hayes-Dorsey. Dorsey has the physical appearance to be like Ben Wallace, but its hard to determine, I highly doubt he gets a lot of playing time.

he's getting 1st rounder type contract not 1st rounder amount
1st rounder you get 1st and 2nd year guaranteed, 3rd and 4th year team option
2nd rounder you get 1st guaranteed, 2nd year team option
late 1st rounder get like 1M on his 1st year
Dorsey is getting less than that

How can anyone be against this signing? We got Dorsey for friggin less than 1 mil per year! Some people nitpick and say "Oh Dorsey is bad on offense, Dorsey is too short, blah blah" and I don't think it's right to assess him like that.

Look at Landry for example. Landry's skills are limited to hustling, dunking in traffic, and a halfway decent mid-range shot. I have no clue why the Pacers and Bobcats wanted to sign Landry, because he wouldn't have fit either team very well. This past season, Landry fed off of Mcgrady as Landry's skills were exactly what T-mac needed. We needed someone who could catch a T-mac pass, and then finish it with authority. With a creator of Mcgrady's caliber, Carl Landry's value skyrockets. On a team like Indiana, Landry's weaknesses would have been fully exposed.

So now let's look at Dorsey. Dorsey is a better defender, an equally capable dunker (maybe even better), he hustles his butt off, but he has no offensive game outside of that. I don't see how Dorsey won't do what Landry did in terms of finishing at the rim when T-mac sets him up. Another thing I like about Dorsey is his pitbull mentality. We've needed an "enforcer" on this team, and we just vastly improved in that department by adding Artest and Dorsey.

I think this a GREAT signing for us. I'm going to have agree with King Roosk when he questions how anyone could be against this deal. The reason DM locked up Dorsey this way was to avoid making the same mistake he did last year by just giving Landry a 1 yr deal. I'm very excited to see him in a Rockets uniform. I also think there is a chance he could earn his way into the rotation regularly by mid-season.

Now can we re-sign Deke ???

PG: Alston, Francis, Brooks
SG: McGrady, Barry, Head
C: Yao, Mutombo, Dorsey
SF: Artest, Battier
PF: Scola, Landry, Hayes

Who is going to make that last spot on the team? Harris or Strawberry?

Morey learned his lesson when he gave Landry only a 1 yr deal. Perhaps Morey was cautious with Landry's injury history, but that was an awful move on Morey's part.

I am glad Morey handled Dorsey's situation well.

Morey's plan was to sign Landry to a multi year deal from the start , but then Francis became available and we didn't have money left from our MLE for Landry.

Then he signed Landry to a 1 year deal instead of 2 years because he thought he will be easier to sign after one season than two.

The Francis' signing didn't lay an immediate impact on Landry's contract. Francis was signed in late July and Landry was signed in early October. With or without Francis, Landry was going to get a contract.

To my awareness, Landry was offered only 500k last season. That's not a lot of money when our team salary was around 70 million dollars. It's hard to believe that Morey refused to give him a 3-year or even a 2-year contract because of financial reasons. There would've been a little more money involved but that money won't have had a significant impact to this ballclub.

We wasted all of our MLE to sign Scola and Francis.
So without the MLE the maximum years we could offer Landry is 2.

Morey offered him just a one year deal because he though it would be easier to re-sign after one year rather then two , probably thinking he won't get much playing time.

Also if I am not mistaken Morey wanted that Landry's contract will be only partially guranteed.
We had a lot of guranteed contracts and Landry had an unimpressive su,,er league performance.

Landry's agent said that he and his client are confused , the Rockets spend 1 million dollars to buy the pick and draft Landry , and now they give him only a partially guranteed contract for the least money possible.

Nice signing by us. He really adds depth at both the PF and C position. I wonder does that mean the end of Hayes? I sure hope so. I think we got him fairly on the cheap, and he could make a impact on our team on defense.
