Our 12-Man Rotation should be......

Post#1 » by McGrady2Head » Thu Oct 16, 2008 2:46 am

if you were the coach of the rockets, and after watching a few preseason games, what do you think our 12 man rotation should be. (assuming dikembe wont be on the team), we have 16 players currently, you have to cut , and put 3 on the IR

Heres Mine...

1. T-Mac
2. Yao
3. Artest
4. Scola
5. Landry
6. Rafer
7. Battier
8. Barry
9. Dorsey
10. Francis
11. Hayes
12. Brooks

IR: Strawberry, Mike Harris, Wafer

Cut: Luther Head

if dikembe comes back, but wafer

nobody in the league use 12 men rotation
most will use 9 men rotation
if you are talking about the 12 active players then it will depend the situation

as of right now
i'll take Head over Strawberry

Francis doesn't deserve to be ahead of Brooks let alone in a 12 man rotation. It's a waist to keep him on our roster but I guess he'd be too expensive to cut so hopefully we can deal him come trade deadline since he's expiring.

Assuming also everyone healthy

Alston,McGrady,Battier,Scola,Yao....starters
Artest....6th Man
Barry,Landry,Brooks....rotation reserves
Hayes,Head....spot minutes
Dorsey,Strawberry....rotating between D-League and cheerleading on the bench until Deke comes back
Francis.....rockin' some nice suits while sitting on bench on IR until Rox can unload his contract near trade deadline
Harris....hoping for a miracle
Von Wafer....altho his ability to score in bunches is a needed quality,Strawberry's ability to be emergency PG gives Strawberry edge-esp if team is thinking of moving Head.

i'll assume we keep Head and Francis to deal later on in the season? Head could be valuable in a trade situation because he has played well when t-mac has gone down in the past.........maybe other gms wont realise he sucks ass in the playoffs :P

I like Brooks and wanna see how he gets on early on in the season.....his decision making looks a bit better than it was last year(from what ive seen in the pre-season).

WTF??? If that's your rotation, you're going to be in trouble at the point. Rafer as 6th man? Brooks as 12th? Come on. You can't be serious.

Here's my 12 man roster:

1 - Rafer / Brooks
2 - T-Mac / Barry / Head
3 - Battier / Artest
4 - Scola / Landry
5 - Yao / Hayes / Dorsey

IR - Wafer, Strawberry, Francis

Cut - Mike Harris

Both young 2 guards start the season with the team, but not in the rotation. As Luther screws up, they get more time. If we sign Deke, then cut one of them.

Brooks has shown me this preseason that he deserves more minutes. Artest will be the starter at 3 at the beginning of the season only if Battier is still hurt. He's playing well with the second unit.

Artest and Battier should be vary depending on who we play but besides that I'd say the rest of the rotation is set

I think the op meant 12-men roster with 3 players as IR. I would keep Head and cut Harris.

"12-man rotation"

Instantly...

"That's one of two possible people."

3 tenths of a second later...

"Yep."

12 men rotation = 12 men that's going to play every night
12 active men = 12 men that will be in uniform

Oh lol...I know dude just giving you a hard time.

Cut Head, and Harris. Wafer and Strawberry are better players. If Head was a lights out shooter I would think differently but he is streaky. So I would take the size of those two guys over Head.

i'm just trying to teach him those common words used in nba

actually we can keep all of them if we like
just buyout Francis contract (his amount minus the minimum)
he's not ready to play anyway
when he's ready we can sign him to the minimum
by that time we can probably trade Head or figure out who to cut

If we buy out either Head or Francis they'd still count toward the luxury tax and we wouldn't be able to trade them anymore. Head's contract is guaranteed for this year, so we can't "cut" him. They may both suck but buyouts aren't the answer, at least not as far as Les is concerned.

I knew what you meant too, didn't mean it wasn't a total giveaway as to who wrote it that I thought was fun to give you a hard time over :)

Also, the "injured reserve" as it were is more of an arbitrary extra rotation/nbdl roster now. You can name any 12 of the 15 players on your roster to play on any given night as a game time (afaik, that's the cutoff) decision, as opposed to the old IR which required something like 5 missed games.

Neat side note that I ran into looking for something:

Haven't heard of any of those outside the Nuggets, who.. aren't... defunct?!

If Von Wafer can keep shooting like this from beyond the arc, then I think we HAVE to keep him. Every successful team has that player that shouldn't do well, but for some reason they do...Wafer can be that guy for us. We've been needing 3 pt shooting like this since the championship days.
