T-Mac may miss start of season
I just read the news and saw that. I was waiting to see him for the last pre-season game but it is not clear right now. It says that he may miss start of season. Sure, for a short time, it would not be a big problem for us, but we have to see how he will adjust his new team and teammates.

Re: T-Mac may miss start of season
It's discouraging but it's the right choice.
Don't go out there until you feel 100% T-Mac.
We won't be great but we can be at .500 even T-Mac will miss the first 2 weeks or even a little more of the season.
If Battier can play we will be the same team from last year only with Artest instead of T-Mac , and Barry as an upgrade over Luther.
Take the time off now and be healthy later T-Mac.

Re: T-Mac may miss start of season
He played well against Boston in that first quarter. Didn't have the lift to finish his drives but had the quickness to beat his man without a pick. If he feels pain in his knee after games then he needs to take it easy.
With that said...I don't see him missing that road trip. Look I dunno what runs through McGrady's head but one thing he knows is the importance of different stretches in a schedule. At the end of day McGrady fights through whatever he is ailing from to play road games b/c he knows thats when his team needs him. I don't have the numbers but I am sure he has missed more home games than he has road games.
So IMO he'll sit out the first few games and then when we hit that road trip he'll play. You have to wonder what he was doing this summer though. Either he wasted time or sucks at rehab...either way with our opening schedule this could potentially be really bad. But like I said..I would be surprised if he didn't play on the road trip.

We did fine without him last year (Yao led us through a 10 game win streak). As long as Battier is back and Yao is healthy, we'll be ok.
We better beat the Mavericks in our second game!

I agree the key is Battier. At the end of the day we can't win without McGrady in the long run...but we can't win without Battier in the short run. Battier is to our defense as Bob Saunders is to the Colts. Without McGrady...outscoring teams isn't gonna get it done...we have to show a much better defensive effort than we have in the preseason. A lot of high scoring...talented teams on that road trip. We gotta play our defense or we'll just get destroyed.

I am getting really sick and tired of T-Mac and his lame excuses for not wanting to play. I know the right thing to do is to be cautious, but he has more mood swings than my wife. Just Friday, he was saying he could not wait to start playing again. Saturday, he all of the sudden can't play and we need to be cautious. What did he do all summer, if not rehab. This is symptomatic of T-Mac's whole career, he does not show the toughness needed to be a champion, mental or physical. I beginning to think we may have to win a championship without him.

truthfully, you have a point, but what you need to realize is that T-Mac can't wait to play and at least he is not rushing himself back. If he was to do that he will miss more games

Would have been worst if it was just him and no one else. We have Artest and Yao..don't feel sorry for us...we'll be fine. He'll be back. But we have the talent to hold down the fort.

LOL..I am not sure if 'pussy' is the word to describe him. I think he wants to play like you said...but its probably 'lazy' that bests describes him b/c its pretty apparent that he doesn't do enough in the offseason to stay healthy.
For example..Yao broke his leg...had to have the surgery so he could play in the Olympics..had to rush to get there...but he played. 2 months later...he looks 100% healthy. McGrady had an entire summer and he still couldn't get his knee right.
I mean he use to only have the back issue and that wasn't really something he could help..but now the back seems ok and its all these other knick knack injuries that pop up usually when a player doesn't work hard on his body in the offseason. He said he worked hard on his shot in the offseason..great..but you gotta actually get on the floor to take advantage of that.

Ahh, the season is upon us again, worrying whether Mac will play or not, when at first we thought it wouldn't be a question...

Ron Artest to start at SG? i hope so. If Battier is ready, if Battier is not ready, then Barry to start along with Ron.

Thats great and everything but why the hell do his teamates always have to "hold the fort"? That is not the point some people are trying to make. The man is just mentally weak and it is very obvious just by looking at his whole career. I know you love him of course because this is your favorite team, but there is absolutely no excuse for him to pull this crap nearly every season that he has been with Houston.
People gave me crap on the general board, for saying they might have to trade T-mac - but if he continues this then they might have to.

Re: T-Mac may miss start of season
Wow.
Yao has his surgery at begin of March,Tracy had his begin of May. Knees generally take a long time to heal, esp if a person isn't a 20yr old. Francis had his knee surgery back in early Feb-and he's still not practicing.
As to the pansy remark,I guess Tracy playing on the bad knee for several months and in the Playoffs, plus playing w/a damaged shoulder for a couple of months just shows how big a pansy he is. Having his knee drained hours before playing in a Playoff game shows how soft he is.
And like most players ending the season w/an injury Tracy decided to see if some rest would heal his injuries and then he flew to some obscure specialist to get a second opinion and delayed his surgeries til August and...oh wait,he didn't do that,he went under the knife immediately after the season ended.
His doctors expected a 6-8 month recovery period. 6 months from early May is....early Nov.
Of all the things to criticize McGrady for,not recovering earlier than expected from surgery is pretty f***ing petty.

I think I remember that thread. And I think people were giving you crap because the Rockets don't have to trade him now. He has an expiring contract and they will likely trade him next summer or the 2010 trade deadline since has the expiring in that big 2010 summer.
As far as holding down the fort. I agree with you..teammates shouldn't have to...but they have too. Its part of being a teammate. When McGrady went down early last season Yao stepped up. When Yao went down late...McGrady stepped up. If nobody had to 'hold down the fort' we probably would have a lot more playoff success. But injuries happen...I mean you shouldn't be coming into the season with an unresolved injury but man...what can you do?
This is the Rockets...when we are healthy we are championship caliber or at least the only team that could legitimately challenge the Lakers for the WC title. But we are rarely healthy for numerous reasons so the rest of the guys have to hold down the fort. Because McGrady isn't likely to be the only one that will be injured this season.
McGrady isn't the only injury prone guy on this team. He may not work as hard as Yao does to get back from injuries...or on the whole for that matter. But Yao too is injury prone. What you wanna do? Trade him too? This is who we have hitched our wagon too...we get 2 more seasons to see where it goes. Its not like we are stuck for 5-6 years with a guy.

Re: T-Mac may miss start of season
If we can eke out the first six weeks at .500 I'll be happy. I'd rather have him at full speed later and in post season than break him again early on.
If we are even a couple games below .500 after the first month I think we'll be in a good position. We've got a tough start, and everyone knows it'll take a little while for everything to fall in to place chemistry-wise.
A bad first couple weeks is not that big a deal, and can easily be made up later on.

We know going in that Yao and TMac are going to miss games, it's just how they are. That's why the Artest pickup was so huge, the Rockets IMO are still one of the best teams in the NBA without TMac, because of Artest, that's how good he is.
much respect to the 2011-2012 champions, Miami Heat, well deserved

WTF? Dude. You're either misreading what I said, or your memory's gone foggy.
Remember that 22 game streak we had? T-Mac played 2nd fiddle because he was hurt. Remember?
Of course Yao led our team during those 1st ten games.
