hey guys....
moved to Houston the day before Hurricane Ike (what timing!)....
finally got settled in and bought a house....
now I'm looking for a place to play some pickup ball and some guys to play with....
when I moved to Memphis 5 years ago, I found guys to play ball with through Grizzlies messageboards. So I thought I would check out here and see if any of you guys play ball regularly....I'd prefer playing inside, but whatever is fine by me....

Herman Memorial Park is a park right across the street from Toyota Center. I play there every time I go to a Rockets game.

I think he means:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&g ... 7&t=h&z=20
I played some people there one time coming back from an Astros game about a year or two ago.
In black hard leather dress shoes.
And owned them all, bad.
Then this June I severely sprained my ankle and put nerve damage in my foot (I haven't felt my left toes since then and the bones still crack a lot and are really tender even though xrays show no damage) and taa daa no more basketball for me for a loooong time if ever. Being old sucks. Well, 28, but yeah, old. I feel ya TMac!

i played at the uh rec center several years ago. it cost me $4 to get in, but i played for about 5 hours, and there were some great runs. im not sure if you need to have a student with you, but its a good place to play if you can get in.
you can also try the cage over by the galleria. that place was awesome. games were to 9 straight up so you never sat for long(i never lost anyway), but dont run your mouth over there. every time ive been there ive seen a fight.

Where in Houston do you live? When I was in high school I played pickup ball at the 24 Hour Fitness on Mason Rd in the Katy area, and there are some BALLERS there. The gym has a really homey feel, and there are some serious guys up there. Shawn Kemp has played there before, and the Rice basketball team frequents the gym in the offseason. Great place for ball imo.

- Upstairs at the Missouri City rec center off of FM 2234 once you cross main st.
- They usually run early in the mornings at any YMCA.
- I can't think of the name but there's a park near Chimney Rock and Gulfton right next to the court house, plenty of games on Sat.
- There's a park at Hammerly and Beltway 8 right next to an Olympic size pool, haven't played there in a while though.
- You can usually get in at U of H campus on Saturdays can't think of the name of the gym but I think it's facing Scott St. the same side with TSU.
